Until now, it was assumed that all of the 2010LTD Miyabi guitars were sold. Limited run of 150, 50 to North America.

Al will have two in September, fresh from Takamine. I have reserved one so (with simple math) ONLY ONE LEFT!!

Special guitar: CTP-2, 1 3/4 nut, gorgeous and innovative headstock, pickguard, inlaids, and binding.

Take a look at this and then reserve it from Al. I will let Al tell what his price is - another great deal from LostArtVintage. THAT IS WHY NOT IN 'FOR SALE'...

In searching for inspiration while designing next year’s LTD model, we looked to Japanese history. Specifically, we researched some of the ideas embodied in Japan’s rich and unique aesthetic tradition. One of the more interesting concepts is the idea of “miyabi”. A product of the Heian period in Japanese history (794-1192 AD), “miyabi”, roughly translated, refers to a sense of elegance, grace, and perfection of form and color. Perhaps the most influential literary work in Japanese history was The Tale of Genji, which chronicles the workings of the Heian royal court. The highest value of the court of Genji is miyabi. In the years since, the concept of miyabi eventually became a defining characteristic of the Japanese worldview. In order to capture the spirit of miyabi, we looked to some of the designs featured on traditional cloth historically used for Japanese kimono. These are the elegant, formal dresses worn by Japanese women for thousands of years, and which reached an early peak of importance during the Heian period, the same time as the development of the miyabi concept.

After considering several alternatives, Takamine developed a process in which actual kimono cloth is embedded into an acrylic matrix and then laser-cut to precise shapes for guitar inlay use. It is the incorporation of these authentic, beautiful pieces of material into the design of the guitar which gives the LTD2010 its unique characteristics, and which embodies perfectly the concept of miyabi. you can see the incorporation of the black kimono material with gold metallic thread into the headstock, pickguard, body purfling and other details on the guitar. To the best of our knowledge, Takamine is the very first guitar manufacturer to make use of this innovative technique for inlay design. We think everybody will agree that the result is an exceptionally beautiful guitar.

Ditto. I played one of these in person and it is a stunning guitar. Nice choice Tony.

I got a keyfob in the shape of a Takamine headstock with the 2010 Kimono cloth on it. Real nice. Thanks MM.

And from the other side of the fence...

I don't care for it. Looks like the inside of a Turkish bathhouse. Just way too fancy for my taste....

The guitar and pre-amp is #1. It is a great guitar.

I agree, far different than what I (and, probably Paul) look at when evaluating the appearance of a guitar. Heck, took me a long time to accept the Adamas or Elite epaulets v. center hole.

However, my wife has been so supportive of my "hobby" and when she says "get it!!" - I say yes ma'am! Maybe it is the fact that she has five Masters designations from the Guilds and has done work/research on the Kimonos/Fans of Japan.

Frankly, it may require me to go down the hall to her design studio to get to play it. Doubt if she will play the 'D' and "manly 1 3/4 neck." I can live with that.

I see this guitar as probably something that the Japanese workers of Takamine are very proud of...a reflection of their ancient art. Only 50 in North America, 150 total.

It's a guitar you have to hold in person to really appreciate the art that went into this. And the materials and build quality are done right. In the end, even if it does sound great ... it is still an ornamental guitar showcasing the art. Which sounds perfect for where it's going to live. Good get, Tony.

One of the things I really like about this board is that my friends here (and Tony and Bobbo are strongly in that group) don't stress over me stating an opinion. They simply state theirs and move on.

I'm not huge on tons and tons of bling. I thought the millionth Martin was an exercise in garishness. But others loved it.

Do I love me 87C? You bet. But there's something about the simplicity of my 1537 that grabs me.

Now the thing I do like about this Tak is that it's a D size bluegrass guitar. Just played an EF360 (used) in a local GC. One helluva guitar. Wish I had the grand to buy it.

Tony's gonna like this guitar. He's got an eye for this stuff that escapes me (hell, I have trouble dressing myself in the morning).......

Agreed. We've seen your shirts.

Nice Takamine, though. A little too much decoration for my personal tastes, but it is a superb exercise in craftsmanship and art.

That's a very intriguing guitar. And though I am certainly not averse to bling/ornamentation, it is different enough that I would have to see one in person first. (And that's without even having a clue as to cost. I imagine it is a tad pricey, though that is admittedly relative.)

Still, my first impressions are almost entirely positive. It certainly is a looker!

Funny...bout the bling.

On a production guitar I tend to like the bling...the 43 or 45 style, cool fretboard markers, headstock designs and the like....and when you buy a production guitar blinged out they are ridiculously cheap (for the additional bling) as opposed to special ordering one (with an equal amount of bling).

All my special order guitars have been plain jain with possibly a slight trim upgrade....but fretboards are usually -18 style dots or sometimes no markings at all. The additional 2-3 grand to really bling out a custom order just isn't worth it.....plus with a special order it is really all about the sound.

I, on the other hand, am totally all about the bling. The more, the better, but it still needs to be a real player. Personally, I love the artistry and overall presentation of the Miyabi. It is something I've never seen on aother production guitar, anywhere. This is not an over-the-top guitar. The purfling, headstock and PG detail is more subtle (well, maybe not the PG), not at all in-your-face like bright shell might be, or flames, or a flag, etc.
