Location: Sunshine State, Australia | AJ and TAFKAR have made plans for a gathering at Jims spectacular riverside Brisbane appartment on The weekend of November 27th.
The Aussie membership is the biggest it's ever been and we're hoping for a good turnout. (biggest previous 'record' was 4) There will be the best collection of Ovations (and a spattering of inferior 'other brands') outside the US - possibly outside Connecticut.
AJ has OK'd inviting any of the US membership to join us.
Brisbane in November. How can you resist.
The only criteria is, you have to bring at least one of AJ's guitars over with you. |

Mike, contact Pygmy Boats, build your own and film a documentary of your journey... I'd pay to watch it!
Muzz, sounds like a great time (as soon as I recalculate that Summer is in November)! |

For anyone wondering about the weather in Brisbane at that time of the year, I have two words for you: Hot and humid. |

Queensland: Beautiful one day, like a sauna the next. This will be a pleasant escape from the late November cold in the US. Seriously, who wants to be in the US at that time of the year? Cold and unpleasant, but without the pretty snowfall. Come to Australia and enjoy the weather, most of the country has delightful weather at that time of the year. If you ask nicely, you might be able to crash at some OFC member's houses in other parts of the country to really make a trip of it. |

Besides, I could mule a couple of AJ's gits for a lot less than the price of a tropic wardrobe! |

Hey you Yanks, we're serious about getting some of you over here for some good ol' Aussie hospitality and weather.
Schroeder, if you want that lunch, this will be your best chance.
Ignore TAFKAR's 'hot and humid' comment - he's really from Canberra. (You'd think he's be used to 'hot and humid' with all that hot air...)
Trust me, the weather in Brisbane in November will - be - perfect!
7 months away. Start saving and planning. |

(Instructions 49-106 until you enter Australia.)
With the added responsibility of learning another language this may take longer than I first thought. |

Location: Sydney, Australia | Muzz, what happens at AJ's stays at AJ's. :)
I walked out with a bluege 12 string Adamas II with a replacement neck - SWMBO went overboard on the shoe shopping and said "You need to buy yourself something special". Andrew walked out with the original neck which he's going to re-fret and fill in the pot holes (photos when I get home). The action's a little high, but we're hopeful the original neck will fix that.
The replacement neck is a 2 piece, non-walnut neck with "Adamas" on the head and a walnut fretboard. Anyone know where that would have come from? I've never seen any like that. The original neck is a standard 5 piece Adamas II neck.
Andrew walked out with more than he could carry - some to fix, some on a 'try before you buy' basis. That black 12 string legend has a popped brace - I'm sure Andrew will report on the surgery.
AJ was a very generous and gracious host. |

C'mon guys. Letting the team down.
Those couple on the 'Downunder' site don't count.
There must be more... |

Location: Sunshine State, Australia | Even though I'm in the middle of the Pacific, I did my best to attend the Brisbane gathering.
I had arranged to Skype the boys on the night and did so when I saw AJ was online.
They could see me but I couldn't see or hear them.
Then I got a typed message from Richard that AJ didn't have a webcam.
I asked why couldn't I hear them - "He hasn't got a microphone either".
237 guitars, but no microphone...
So I used up some of my Skype credit and phoned them.
So, it wasn't an Aussie OFC 'record' (4 at TAFKAR's Brisbane residence) but this one might go down as #2 with 3.5 attendees? |
