I've been spending time at the Goodwill auction site, and this morning I saw this. Looks like a Legend, but the name on the peghead says Fender. The label says it's a Newporter, but that is not right - it's an Ovation. Someone thought it would sell better with a different name?

Interesting someone would bother to (I assume) use a label from an old Fender Newporter, remove the Ovation logo, and put on the Fender logo.

+1 on afortune's comment. Not sure exactly what a Newporter is or was, but gold foil Fender decals are readily available.

Kinda like sticking a Ford emblem on a Maserati. Not many Fender acoustics I'd prefer over an Ovation

Certainly no shortage of 'freaks of nature' this week...

This one, along with MM's Jappo-electric abomination

Alison. If you want to buy it, I will go to Indy and pick it up for you - hand deliver it when I hit town for the gathering. LOL. You could be the first to own one of the new highly collectable Fender New Porter Roundback O clones.

Thanks anyway, Alan. (Looking forward to meeting you in a few weeks though.)
