Hey Everyone, I'm a new member and I love reading all the things everyone writes in ref: to Ovation guitars. My request, I have turned my brother in law onto Ovation guitars. He purchased a Tornado on ebay, and it is awesome. Problem; It does not have the original neck and tail piece with the wammy bar. Because of this the strings do not cross the poles of the pickups correctly. Even so the guitar is fantastic. He is an expert in wood work and the neck on it now has a 2nd marking on it. The neck is not wide enough thus the problem with the pickup poles. Anyone who may have one and or the tail piece please e-mail me. Thank you

The tailpiece won't affect the position of the strings over the magnets, the bridge and saddle position does that. These came both with the Vibrato bar and also without. The ones without had a trapeze style tailpiece.

It might benefit you to throw some pictures up here so we know what we're dealing with.

FWIW, the strings don't line up on mine proper either and I have the proper tailpiece and bridge on it.

Welcome Kittman,

I don't have the parts you asked about but don't give up. Stuff shows up all the time.

Yes please post pictures. A "non-original" neck might make things a bit tough due to the way Ovation mounted their necks. Any other neck would need to be modified. As Damon mentioned, the bridge controls where the strings lay, and I've only seen a couple where the strings go "almost" perfectly over the poles.

Hey this is kitmann again. Thank you all for your impute. I e-mailed my brother in law to send several pictures of the guitar so everyone can see the problem. But how do I post a photo on this site or several photos that he emails me. I new, come on you can smell the new fish, and I'm not sure how to do it yet. Any help please. Thanks.

Damon67, my lord that is one beautiful guitar. I wish I could afford one. By the way my brother lives in Spokane, Wa He is a country guitar artist (Tom Mann) you can check his web site. Also for the rest of you my Brother in law lives in Odenton, Md. He is retired Air Force and now works with a private contractor for the government. He is wanting to buy a Magnum bass but not sure what they sound like.

I have a Magnum IV, and I also believe AJ is selling one in the "for sale" section. If I had the $, I'd be all over it.

As for how they sound, well they're well documented all over the web in different forums and different review boards. They get pretty much any sort of tone I've ever tried for.

My bass player plays a Music Man, but wanted to use my Magnum for one of our recent recordings. If you want to hear a sample, you can listen here. Actually I'm playing a UKII and the acoustic is a Book Elite (1768-7LTD). So all the guitars are Os in this one song...

Damon, Comfortable sounded great. Your lead work reminds me of Carlos Santana. Everything sounded great.

Hell of a great job!

Damon,

On my end, the bass didn't come thru near as strong as the percussions. BUT... the UK sounds sooooo sweet!
