I almost overlooked this tagged notice at the top of the FOR SALE section.

I wholeheartedly agree with this and it has been a long time coming.
This will be a GREAT WAY to help finance both the SOCIAL SITE and this ORIGINAL FORUM.

I have bought and sold many items over the past 5-6 years and have also greatly benefited from OFC members posting fabulous guitars before they take them to the masses on ebay (and sometimes probably selling it to OFC members at a loss).

I hope EVERYONE will take the time to go read this message and even more importantly donate the small percentage of the sale that is mentioned. IMHO it is a heck of a lot cheaper than ebay or paypal fees and goes to a much greater cause!

Thanks Al and Miles.........

I've got a lot of stuff on the ning site, and I certainly have no problem with helping to support it. I've also moved quite a few instruments through this board, and shamefully admit it never occurred to me to kick some back. That changes for me from now on. If anyone here buys something from me (other than through eBay where other seller's fees apply), I will gladly put a percentage back into the site.

In this case I humbly admit....

Lesson learned.

As far as the ning site goes. I don't think it would take much to get the fees they need. LOTS of us use it. If we all pitched in just $5 or $10, there'd be no worries.

Okey doke, I've said my piece. I'll make room for others on the

That's why it's always my last resort. I'd much rather sell for less here.

Everybody would rather sell here for LESS.

Point is that it's about time those of us who have benefitted from selling here pony up and repay a small part of the proceeds. I think $5-$10. on a guitar sale is more than reasonable.

I brought this up quite a while ago, and have made a per guitar donation a few times. Most of the time, I wait till I compile a few sales, then make a donation. Which reminds me, another one is due... On the way Miles!

Maybe on the typical O sale which is less than $1000.

I feel if you are moving gear that sells for $2000, $3000 or more that number should at least be doubled.

Just my opinion and to each his own but I know what I will do based on the sale price of the item.

What about people that sell guitars to each other and then sell them back to each other again. Do you have to pay twice?

To be honest, I don't care for the "ning" site, and don't go there except when I get an email that someone wants me to see what was posted on my wall or whatnot. I do support this website and if the money can be used more over there, so be it.

For me it would really depend on the profit level.
If I sell a guitar for a loss, $5-10 would be more than adequate.
If I sell it for a good profit I think a bit more would be in order.

If I am selling it back to someone it is probably offline anyway.

Like Al said, think about the charges on Ebay. Listing fee, final value fee, paypal fee.... Most other sites have a percentage fee on guitars sold through the forum, albeit on the honor system, this should be no different. World wide exposure to what you are selling,...Priceless.

I'd be happy to make a contribution, but...

I guess the PAYPAL contribution page was designed a while ago. The format is not ideal and I'm pretty sure that I am not the only one that has hit the 'Make A Contribution' link and found a non-HTTPS link asking for your password info (ie. asking for your account and password info before you are actually transferred to the PAYPAL site. If I am wrong about this (sorry), but please read on...

Wouldn't it possible to just show an OFC PAYPAL account name... ie. OFC@paypal.com (or the account name you are currently using...) and anyone wishing to contribute could simply use the 'send money' option directly from PAYPAL's site. This in my opinion would be simpler (and safer...) for OFC users that already have a PAYPAL account... and I'm guessing that is close to everybody.

Thanks for the consideration...

I sent a donation on it earlier and it is definitely legit. Don't worry, when you actually make the donation you are sent through the standard HTTPS SSL secured PayPal transaction process.

With Al or Miles being the one that set it up, I can't imagine them directing you to a spoofed site... Though I'm sure they'd be happy to send you the PayPal email if you asked nicely.

If you click and yours doesn't, you may be infected with a worm type virus. please let me know via email to support@ovationfanclub.com

For anyone wishing to make a contribution using the the 'Send Money' method directly from PAYPALS site, the email address for the target account is...

I know you did this with good intentions, but PLEASE DO NOT POST ACTUAL EMAIL ADDRESSES. The Internet is full of harvesting bots that do nothing but scan for email addresses to add to spam lists. I've alerted Miles, hopefully he'll edit this soon.

If you MUST publish an email address, alter it so it can't be recognized by a bot - for example replace the "@" and "." symbols by the words "at" and "dot", or put extra spaces between the characters in the address.

And that email address is the main account, not the OFC account. PayPal is getting (has gotten) AWAY from using email addresses in the code you use for buttons specifically for the reason G8r stated.

YOu may use this link https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id... as well.
