Indeed. And interesting. I wonder ... is it the player that wears out the guitar, or if the guitar that wears out the player?

If you can afford to buy $8-$10,000 Olsons whenever you want, then hey, an excuse is a good excuse......

Jim, you have to keep them for more than a week and play them...lol

But I agree, I have never heard of wearing a guitar out...suppose it could happen but nothing a good Calton case won't fix

I don't know.....I've heard a few people who surely wore out a few guitars. I mean, I was certainly tired of listening after only 2 minutes. Surely the guitar gives up after a period of time.

His comment was that 200 year old cellos and violins sound magnificent. Guitars generally get trashed well before that point.

Willie Nelson keeps on playing his and it looks trashed but still plays...Dream Guitars has a 1928 Martin 00-28 that is the poster guitar for abuse but it sounds great...

Here's a guy who knows how to wear out a guitar. Scott Allan Knost is a local musician and songwriter. Check out the "extra soundhole" in his Tak.

I would venture to say that the 200 year old violins and chelli are still good because they've been rebuilt so many times by experienced people.

I remember hearing that Segovia would say a guitar had a 15-20 year life for him. 5 to break it in and the next 10 or so for the peak and then the back side of the hill.
