Larry wasn't just a great songwriter with chart topping hits, but he was (and still is) ONE HELLUVA guitar player, even as a little kid...

Location: Central Oregon | I saw that kid live at the Naval Air Station in Kodiak Alaska at the Enlisted men's club about 1963-64. He put on one hell of a show. I had no idea who he was at the time. |

Joe probably did kiss Larry on the lips. I'm in contact with Larry, want me to ask? :D
BTW, his sister Lorrie was Ricky Nelson's first girlfriend on Ozzy and Harriet, and was a character on the show for a while. |

I didn't even remember his name until I saw a YouTube clip of him & Joe Maphis a few months ago. Mostly I remember a kid several years younger than I was just tearing up the first double neck guitar I'd ever actually seen. I do seem to remember him just blistering through Maleguena. Can't imagine how good he must be by now. |

Location: Jet City | I just was reading an article in Guitar World, one of those "All Time" articles. THis topic was speedy players and they mentioned Joe Maphis and Larry Collins in the "Old timers" section. They specifically mentioned to check this video out on you tube. fun |
