Location: Wooster, Ohio | I have two Ovation guitars I am thinking of selling been really out of the Ovation market for a while. Ovations have always to be been a bargin in the used market. Has the economy generally tanked them even further? I really don't have to sell just need the room and don't play them now that much.

And Ovation prices are predictably low, but it depends on what you have.
Everything that I want costs more than I can afford.
If you are not in a hurry, you can list a guitar Fixed Price, 'Until Canceled' for 50¢...
eBay will take 12% and PayPal will take 3%... Then figure shipping.
Or you could just list them Here!

Location: Utah | IMHO used guitar prices are pathetically low. Selling now is painful, so much so that I am keeping a nice mid range O in the closet rather than sell. I did trade with one guitar for something of interest, and that seems to be something more common on guitar forums this year.
The future is unknowable but my crystal ball suggests more deflation on nonessentials. So sell now or plan on waiting at least a year, at least that's my guess.
Now is a great time to buy new or used. |

Location: Phoenix AZ | It's a better time to be a buyer than a seller, but that probably isn't unique to Ovation.
The issue that I think they are starting to face is that they have past their prime in terms of being considered "cool" or highly desirable. Doesn't mean they are not still great guitars. But they don't have that "wow" factor that they did in the 70's when it was almost every guitar playing kids wet dream to have one. Maybe with the iDea guitar, the DJ Ashba, SEVEN and other cutting edge models Fender can pump some juice into it again. |

Trading is a idea I didn't think about, I really don't need another guitars but that might at least stir the interest into getting something new that I might fit a niche I don't have. If I list the guitars on the buy and sell for trade do I have to put a price on them? Both of these guitars are Elites a bit redundent

Location: Cicero, NY | Yes, the rules are that you have to list a price and selling is tough these days but, if you really don't have to sell, list them at what you'll accept and see what happens. If there's no interest, you put them back in the closet for another time. There's nothing saying you have to list them at a price that they have to sell at. Who knows? Somebody just might be looking for what you have, have a few extra bucks and determine that they're worth it to them. If not, no harm, no foul. |

Location: USA | The acoustic Ovations seem to be harder to sell than the Electrics, which have been selling pretty well on ebay. In fact, I recall a Magnum I Bass going for around $1000 just a couple weeks ago or so. There is another one on there now at that price with a bid. I think it's best to hold on to what you have and wait for the economy to improve, unless you have an electric. Then you might get lucky, you might not. |

| The 87C would bring a good price from a knowledgeable buyer. That's one of Ovation's best ever guitars. |

Location: Wooster, Ohio | Interesting haven't played the Collector in a while and right now I am having some trouble with my old hands. No doubt the neck on that 87 is the best one of all my guitars. Got used to playing big bass dreds and got away from the more balanced ovation sound. Got to keep this one. May be coming back to the fold. |

Location: On the Coast - Halfway between SF & OR | Viper III prices seem to be all over the place. A couple months ago, I noted a couple (eBay & craigslist) sold for 650 & 700 and that seemed about right to me.
A month later 2 sold on eBay for 350 & 400 with hardly anyone bidding. I can't figure what anything is worth these days. |

Location: Omaha, NE | Slightly off topic (this one is supposedly new, not used), but there is a 2079LX Custom Legend on eBay with a $999 BIN . I don't pay a lot of attention to these things, but that seems like a sick low price. I hope this is a unique sale...like the dealer is closing them out and just want's to get rid of it.
They say its brand new, not an FRG. New one, with the OpPro Studio. I hope someone here gets it quick before my willpower breaks down. |

Location: Tennessee | That's a FRG. There's a "5 year" reference to the warranty which is the giveaway. BTW, "brand new" and FRG are not mutually exclusive.

…is it intentionally deceptive? You decide…
…but, if you are looking for one, why deal with someone that you even suspect of being deceptive? Just call Al, you'll get a great price, and you'll get exactly what he says you'll get, without any BS*.
*(At least not about your purchase.) ;) |
