My daughter Kaki will be in rarified air in more ways than one at the Guitar Town Festival in Copper Mountain Colorado next week. Check out these pickers:

http://villageatcopper.com/guitarTown/performers.php

It is free, which is unusual for a summer festival. Here are directions from Denver:

Best to all--

I found about this for the first time last year. It really looks like a great guitar festival in a fantastic setting.

I attended for a few years. One year, the headliner was Vince Gill just after he won Entainer of the Year at the CMAs. Great setting.

Impressive lineup.

Free? Is there a catch?
What's the story on that?

My son, Adam, and I attended last year. We were there for only a day and a half, and had a great time. Adam requested a return visit this year - and he's a drummer! So this year we're going back for the full three days.

standing: There's no catch. I think the resorts offer free events like this to fill their rooms over the summer. There's definitely a lot of talent at Guitar Town.

Congratts to Kaki.
Locals in the Rockies are awesome folks to play for. She'll have a blast.

wow Dale,
I have been here in Wichita on business since last Monday. Wish I had thought to check if any members were here to hang around with and play a bit.

Unfortuantely to late now as I am leaving midday Tuesday (tomorrow)!

Next time you're in town, give me a holler. It's always good to meet another OFC member.

After the last gathering, my wife asked, "you don't know any of these guys by their real names do you?" I said, "I'm pretty sure Stephent28's real name is Stephen."

We probably know more where they live than what they're real name is. Like you, Mark. Last name? No idea but obviously you're in Iowa. That's simple!

Before we'd meet up with Wease, g8r, or others, Pam would ask for some "details" just to get an idea of the fine folks she was about to meet. She was answered with a number of himiny-haws, blank stares, and shrugged shoulders.
Thing is she never asked the really, really important questions like what kind of strings they use and if they were fans of A bracing or X bracing.

No worries there, Brad. Pam gets a free pass whenever she needs it. Great lady.

Pretty positive that g8r'll back me up on that as well.

It bad enough when I told Patty my OFC name was 2ifyC and my nickname was Iffy. With so many Mikes in the mix, it's now Mike (that gave me the Iffy nomer), Mike (the Reverend), Mike (that works at Dollywood and sings the cat song); that's no counting the Marks, etc.! :D

BOnT, wish I could of been dere!

I wasn't clever enough to disguise my identity. I started adding "in Boise" to distinguish me from the other Marks on a website. A couple of the computer geeks in the OFC called me, although I don't think I ever disclosed my last name or phone number. There is more than one Mark living in Boise. I guess I never worried about identity theft because I didn't think anyone would want mine.

Just a quick update from the sixth annual Guitar Town: This is the first full day of the event. Adam and I are having a great time. The weather is great and the music so far has been awesome.

The day started off with a workshop that featured four of today's main stage performers: Joe Robinson, Kaki King, Bryan Sutton, and John Jorgenson.

The main stage performers began at noon and are still going on as I write this. Here are a few photos:

Myself in front of the main stage. Some of you will recognize the T-shirt.
