Location: Blue Ridge Mountains | The Nashville Flood took over two dozen lives and millions of dollars of guitars and gear.
Among the hardest hit was the 160,000 sq. foot Soundcheck Nashville Studio and storage facility in the Nashville Industrial Park: Many touring acts store their gear there. In the foreground is Steve Earle's Gear drying out...4-5 feet of water/diesel/sewage in this room for over 3 days...
And one of the guitar victims: circa 1955 Les Paul

Location: Blue Ridge Mountains | Folks have said that the references to Katrina are not applicable to Nashville...believe me to those who lived through it, it must certainly have seemed like it...
Gear can be replaced...lives not! |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | That first photo looks just like Miles' boathouse. Seriously, this is a heartbreaking story. It is one thing to lose gear that can be replaced, another to lose gear that can't be replaced, and then there's the loss of life which, of course, is the most tragic and devastating of all. I just visited the Oklahoma City Memorial with a business colleague and friend who was in the Murrah building when it was bombed. Tragic to say the least. Count your blessings for life. |

My heart especially goes out to the families of those that lost loved ones... Well said, Iffy! Lots of echoing sentiment from this corner. |

It's probably a good idea to double check any instrument and equipment sales from that area as best as possible. Being that this was a huge warehouse (and there were others) most equipment was likely in cases, so the contents would likely easily clean up on the outside... but may have been submerged.
Now, on the otherhand, I bought a box of effects a few years ago that I knew was in a flood, and about 50% of the items just needed to be cleaned and they worked great.
I'm just say'n. Buyer be "extra" beware. |
