Here's a pic from the Rush concert in Reno the other night. Alex Lifeson normally uses the Ovation classical for the intro to "The Trees".

Looks strapless. How is he holding the O? Does somebody come grab it after the intro?

It's mounted on a stand.

Alex designed the first guitar stand like this I think. The Omega stand if I remember right.

They played The Trees?? COOL!

I'll be seeing them at the end of the month. My seats are 8ft from the stage (in front of Geddy unfortunately).

Really cool to see him playing an O again. Last year he was using Garrisons.

I thought he used an Adamas on The Trees in the old days though.

That's the only song he uses a classical on, so I'm pretty sure. He used to use an red Adamas back in the 80's, but I haven't seen him use that one in a long time.

Cliff it could very well be a Gracie walkup.

I was referring to back when there were no walkup stands. I heard a story how Alex made the first one out of a mic stand.

I doubt he modifies anything on his own anymore. Now you can just buy 'em.

He has been using a classical "O" for a long time for The Trees. They did not perform the song on their first leg of the tour but it looks like they added it.

Alex used to play the intro to Closer to the Heart and other accoustic parts on a 1687-2. He then used an '85 Collector's on many songs from the Hold your Fire album. I still have the tour book where he's photographed with it.

There we go, someone who REALLY knows the scoop.
I'm geeked for this show, though I hear it will be close to the same set list.

The Trees is a new add, and I here Red Barchetta and 2112 were added as well.

Anyone know what was taken out?

From what I can find, this is how this year will differ...

The "OUT" list (cut from the set):
Entre Nous
Secret Touch
Circumstances
Summertime Blues

The "IN" list (added to set):
Ghost of a Chance
Red Barchetta
The Trees
2112 (Overture and Temples)

The in list looks good. I'll miss Circumstances and Entre Nous a bit, but they were replaced with good stuff.

27 songs and a drum solo. It's gonna be a great night! I'll be taking a few pics for sure, but I'll have to be careful taking video clips.

For those that care, here's my stuff from last year's show...

That makes sense (Rush shows generally have more than one drum solo, don't they??)

They are here June 3. I've never been a fan, so I wasn't planning on going. Rock bands in a basketball arena aren't something I enjoy going to anymore. Maybe I'll give them a listen and see.

Just one, and it's the only one that I find interesting enough to sit through.

Mark, I have 2 extra tix in row 12. The best venue in the US.

I was planning to sell on craigslist here, but if you (or any other OFCer) wants to come see the best Rock group ever (OK, that's subjective). Let me know in the next 48hrs.

Face value for you guys. I'll be selling for a premium on CL.

The Gorge...

They must be coming right here afterward. Last I knew tickets were still available here. If there is a chance that the guy in front of me is wearing a Metallica T-shirt, I know it's not a band I want to see.

Ha!

That was the Pearl Jam show.

I was amazed last year by 2 things.

1. How many OLD dudes there were
2. How many YOUNG dudes there were

Anyway, I'm bringing my son. It's his birthday weekend, so this is his present.

At the last Folkin' Friday the Roland rep picked up a Grodin and played "Trees". First time I ever heard that tune. He did a crazy long instrumental introduction. I thought it was a YES song a first.
