I have always been a fan of this song...Mark Knopfler is such a great player: I have also heard many try to duplicate his signature sound and lead on "Sultans of Swing" few come close IMHO...
Looking at the video of the Buck Owens Tele in OMA's Busking thread showed this player demoing the guitar...there was also a link to other videos of his on youtube...this one blew me away: Silver sparkle Tele and he can defiantly play it! Mark used a Strat but this Tele sounds great...check it out: You gotta love Chickin Pickin...

Excellent, Mike. This guy is great, and knows how to get the best out of a Tele. His technique on Sultans is remarkable. I've never found a Tele to be as comfy as a Strat, but they're hard to beat for rockabilly jangle. This guy also demonstrates the value of playing with backing tracks. It is an enjoyable way of practicing, particularly if you're as skilled as this guy.

Justin Sandercoe has an excellent 4 part video lesson on Sultans. It is free on his website justinguitar(DOT)com. Just click on songs and enjoy - a lot of good stuff on that website.

He used to have a hand written tab for sultans on his site but had to take down all his tabs due to leagal reasons.

I downloaded the tab prior to that and if anyone wants it just send me a PM - it is a PDF file.

Very talented to be able to duplicate those licks.
.
Has to be one of the top guitar songs ever.
At least to those who know a G chord from a G.... well... you know.

That other guy in the video is seriously into heavy metal… ;)

He's good, I'm more impressed by his Knopfler than his Moore, but he plays both of them twice as better than I will…

After viewing this video, aside of the amp and such, which Ovation could duplicate this superb pure sound? What would be the effective difference with an Ovation stereo capability?

Am I wrong in assuming that the 'stereo' effect is based on the lower three strings in one channel and the others on another?
