Location: East Greenville,PA | Hi everyone. I have a 1658 CL. Eveytime I tune they go down a step and make a really bad noise--almost like splitting wood. I tried to tighten them. Can anyone help? |

Could it be the strings are bigger than the slots in the Nut they are sticking?
Odd? |

Location: East Greenville,PA | No its a 12 string sorry. I Just bought it in April. 4 of them do it--all on the same side. I just had a set up. Do I need new ones? |

Location: Tennessee | Is this a new issue? Sometimes slotheads can be tricky to string. Perhaps the strings are slipping? You might try restringing to see if the problem goes away. If you are not 100% schooled in how to lock the string down on the barrel, there's a pictorial somewhere here on the site. Someone else can point you to it ... I'm on a mobile device here and my ability to search and such is limited.
Just an idea. |
