Do you realize what a HUGE can of worms you've just opened for AussieJames? I don't see the word "Ovation" mentioned, just Kaman.
I wasn't familiar with them either…
In fact, I'm still not… ;) |

It was a bunch of copy spoo for the distributors to sell. Made by Samgak like all the copy spoo in the 80s.
Absolutly nooothing special, unless you're into that kind or stuff. |

1985-MAKO-SHARK- OVATION-KAMAN -GUITAR-PRINT-AD Yes, you are correct.
I meant in the actual ad. The Ebay seller incorrectly added the word "Ovation," but it was never mentioned in the ad itself… |

The general consensus seems to be that Mako was a line of instruments produced by the Matsumoko Company, who are better known for producing Aria, Vantage and 70s Epiphone guitars. Matsumoko also apparently produced some of the higher quality Hondo instruments - probably the set-neck models from the early 80s.
Interesting so what you got here is a medium to high end guitar, made in Japan, that was somehow distributed by Kaman. I guess like Takemine? |

The hard bodies were Sam-yick as were the mako. Hard bodies had better hardware and parts, Mako was just designed for a price-point spoo. |
