Does anyone else make a recording preamp similar to the iDea? Sadly, prices here are around double the US prices for a whole iDea guitar or the preamp alone

I have not seen one. The idea preamp is pricey, but makes sense as a retrofit to a high-end instrument. I did not much like the OP-PRO in my AD II 1769 (plus, something was defective with the "can" on that one). A few days ago I installed the whole idea kit and LOVE it. Now, Jeff and I have two 1769s, one natural, one black, and we use the recording function for work in progress. For example, I'm teaching Jeff a new composition of mine and all I have to do is play parts into the idea and, voila!, better than sheet music. BTW I like the sound of the preamp in the 1769: much better than the PRO.
