With the precious help of a great and so kind Ovation fan from japan, I'll be soon the proud owner of a wonderful Adamas 1713-X Nylon Wood Top.
I don't know much of this model and I only know 2 including this one but according the pics, it's a fantastic looking instrument.
Maybe it has been produced as a ltd series for Japan only???
Some will say that it's more an Ovation than an Adamas guitar and they will probably be right because she don't have a carbon top but it doesn't matter, I love it.
The main specs are Cedar top, Adamas fan bracing, Epaulets sound holes, walnut Adamas fretboard and 2" nut width (to be confirmed).
To hold such a rare and nice guitar in my arms was so unexpected and it will be soon a reality.
Be sure that I'll post some detailed pictures as soon as she will be at home in 3 or 4 weeks.
J :)

I have its steel string brother (a 1982 prototype) with many similarities (shape, bowl, epaulet detail, purfling detail, fret board and markers). This nylon string version looks new and is gorgeous. What are the electronics? |

Man, Ovation really is not in touch with reality, there are so many great models that we all dream about like this one that if they were available and affordable we would be so crazy about them and buying them too!
But forget custom orders, too much money.
Like I have been looking for an Adamas 1881 super shallow bowl and can not find one, and so are many other OFCers, looking for a looooooooong time and nothing.
Oh well, congrats Jerome. |

It's a 1992 model (according the serial), mid bowl and PO-24 pre-amp.
How do you find these things Jerome? Every morning and evening, I'm watching the sales on Ebay, on online shops in USA and Japan.
This one was in Japan and I was lucky to get it.
It would not have been possible without my contact in Japan... ;)
Dave is right, it looks like a Nylon 1537.
I don't know how it will be sounding because the Adamas Fan bracing is surely not the best for Nylon string but I'm confident, it's an Adamas...
I'll post an mp3 to listen to its sound when it will be in France.

I want a nylon O so bad but I'd never even thought of them making an Elite-style model.
Wonder how it'll sound as opposed to the round-hole nylon O's.
Spectacular looking guitar Jerome.
Congratulations and I'm quite jealous :) |

Location: SoCal | By the way, that's a beautiful guitar! Probably built around 1993-4. A cross between a country artist (14 frets to the body, and bridge placement) and a classical (2 inch nut) on an Elite body. A very very special order...... |

I'll see if I can get some better pictures.
Here's the spruce top...

Don't lie about the mullet --- you still have it! |

Location: Paris/France | Hi,
The 1713-X is arrived today and first, I'd like to thank Kazu from Japan for his help and kindness.
Nothing could be possible without him!!!
This is a stunning instrument in near mint condition and my first impression are very very good.
It's a great sounding guitar even if it's a mid bowl and the color of the cedar top is very nice.
As it's a nylon string guitar, nothing compares to an Ovation steel string but she's got a very good projection.
The action is very low and the playability is simply perfect.
It's a great looking guitar too and it's the perfect combination between a 1537, a Country Artist and an Adamas.
I haven't plugged it in yet but I'll test it during the next two days as I'll be alone at home. ;)
The very good surprise is that she's equipped with a 1 7/8 neck just (it's probably a CA neck...) so it's perfect for my hands and the walnut fretboard is wonderful.
So, I'm very very very happy to own such a rare and wonderful guitar and I'll try to record something soon to share its sound with you.
J :)

Location: SoCal | Jerome, have somebody else play it and you listen. It never ceases to amaze me how much tone comes from Ovations that you don't hear when playing the guitar.
This last weekend, I had somebody playing my 1773LX while I listened and was thrilled to discover how much sound actually comes from it. This is even more true with multi hole O's.... |

And yes, Kazu is a great guy!!!
You have to play this thing plugged! Ovation Nylons are not very impressing played acoustic only, but plugged in - WOW!
Enjoy it, best regards,
Kurt |

Jerome, now that you have a wood topped Adamas NYLON string, maybe you should also get a wood topped Adamas TWELVE string !!! |
