Location: Jacksonville, FL | I have an old Ovation Pacemaker 12 I bought in 1980 and dearly love. It appears to have a neck issue but nothing that is obvious to the eye.
I can tune the guitar fine and it holds that tune well. However, if I capo the neck on, say, the 3rd fret, 2 of the strings (B & G) go out of tune sharp while the others are still in tune with each other.
Is this a simple neck straightening issue or is it something else?
Thanks,

Location: Yorkshire, England | Dave - has this just started happening? How old are the strings? If they are of any age, try changing them first before doing anything else.
Had loads of trouble with an electric 12 once the strings started to get dirty. What happens is that they deteriorate at different rates, and at different points along the length of the string affecting intonation. |

No chance this is a righty guitar that you've strung up lefty (or vise versa) is it? What kind of capo are you using? and are you putting the capo as close to the fret as possible?

Location: Jacksonville, FL | I looked at the capo. Didn't notice any grooves but did notice the capo was not very tight. The rubber bar that presses on the string can be rotated into 4 different positions, each one slight thicker then the previous. I rotated it to the next higher one and.... no problem!!!!!
The capo was not even on my mind as the possible cause before all this.
So, again... what is the 'Strat' (or Ovation or Cadillac, depending on your slant) of capos?
Thanks everyone!!!!!!
