brad, in the technical hawaiian language, the letter w is pronounced like the letter v, mostly if it is in the middle of the word. so "ha-va-ee" is the proper pronunciation. another example is in israel kamakawiwo'ole's name.
a w at the beginning of the word, as in "waikiki", is mostly pronounced like a typical w. there are a few rule benders on this.
and mahalo guys for the kind words! |

Great video, nice. Can you make some more? Please include some more slack key. This is one of my favorites.
Thanks,

Location: big island | thank you, mike. i have never learned traditional slack key songs and only play my compositions. let me make that composition, as "makanani" is the only completed slack key song i have done...so far. i have compiled several ki ho'alu phrasings that will one day become another completed song. inspiration is waiting in the wings somewhere, i hope. |

Mike
BTW last night I couldn't get Blue Hawaii out of my mind either, I actually woke up to it. Which was nice because it was 43 degrees out this morning! There is no such thing as global warming in Minnesota. |

(truth be told though, global warming is a scam. the planet is in fact going through a cooling phase. the global warming scare is designed to separate us taxpayers from more of our money, in my not-so-humble opinion.) |
