I realize it's Gibson, but I'm still mighty proud of her.

Having said that, there are 3 players who should occupy the 3 top slots, Chet Atkins, Django Reinhardt, and Andre Segovia. The three of them taught the world new ways of playing that had never been done before.
We'll see..... |

No disrespect to any of those chosen but I totally agree, Paul. Are they all great players? Sure, but the whole concept of ranking "the best" (and I don't care if it's songs, players, colors or doughnuts) is ludicrous. |

Congrats to Kaki on a very nice honor!
Easy to agree that all lists are subjective and silly, but at the very least it means that she impressed enough people to be considered 14th best of all time.
Nice job! |

You could argue that Michael Hedges- or 100 other players- should be on the list too. Or did I miss him?
Is the Eric Clapton on the list the same guy who was a great electric guitarist in the late 60s and early 70s? I thought he passed away in about 1975. Didn't realize he played the Acoustic Guitar.

Always get pissed that Glen Campbell is never recognized for the guitar player that he is/was..... |

Location: Boise, Idaho | Easy to argue about any of them, or with the results of the Gibson.com readers' poll, listing Neil Young as Number 1. I'd just like to thank the OFC for opening my eyes and ears to a lot of these people. There are still a few I've never heard of, but if it wasn't for the OFC, I wouldn't have heard of most of them.
Personally, I just can't get past Django smoking a cigarette in every picture I've ever seen of him. |

These lists are made to get people talking and piss people off. It drives traffic to their website. |

Second, maybe we should start a better more intersting list, like the most influential / inspiring guitar players of all time. Have Al moderate it, and then submit it to Ovation Fender for publication. Everybody would be allowed to submit one name.
My vote goes to Johnny Ramone. |

Location: Texas | People love lists and rankings, even when they are, of necessity, extremely subjective. Yes, that list could be debated endlessly…
More importantly, Kaki (deservedly) is ranked quite highly on a list of stellar acoustic guitarists, most of whom are more than twice her age or no longer with us. For a young contemporary artist to be included ANYWHERE on that list of legendary players is a genuine compliment to her talent… and to be ranked 14th just reinforces what we already know; she's a very talented and creative guitarist, and popcritic has every right to be proud…
(…and she plays nice guitars, too!) ;)
Congrats to Kaki AND Dad… |

I saw Segovia a couple of times and agree that he should be at or near the top. I don't think he'd play an Ovation!
If you took Moody's list and added a couple, you'd have a great range of acoustic styles to study...
Andres Segovia
Django Reinhardt
Chet Atkins
Michael Hedges

I'm a longtime John McLaughlin fan so I might include him. Or maybe Tony Rice who can cover bluegrass and dawg/fusion. But Doc Watson should be up there. Then again, Adrian Legg is really innovative and played Ovation for a long time. Hard to make the perfect list. |
