I just purchased a "Slip-Grip" patch for Ovation guitars off eBay ($12.95). By golly, this thing WORKS! My 1990 Model 1869 CL is now totally anchored to my leg when I play. The black matches the color of my bowl perfectly. Good product!
Also...
Someone in another Forum said he solved the standing "Roll-Off Factor" by relocating his bottom strap button to where the input jack is located. Haven't tried it myself, but it sounds plausible.

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | The Contour Bowl is what taught me to hold my Ovations correctly.
When I first got the Sweet T I didn't like the contour bowl because it seemed like the guitar was tilting away from me.
When seated just learn to hold the guitar perpendicular to the planet (straight up & down).
And the Legend shouldn't be any problem when standing.
I did get one of those "Slip-Grip" thingies for my first Ovation 4861...
Since then I have not used anything like that.
On future guitars I recommend some rough stair tread tape....
The yellow and black "Caution" stuff looks cool! :D |

Perhaps with more ovation years under my belt it would be less of an issue, but I like knowing my CL won't slip out from under me while I'm focused on conquering barre chords. It's simple, inexpensive (as far as guitar accessories go) and does exactly what the seller said it would. Works for me... |

Location: Colorado | I started with a piece of 3" wide 3M grip tape, then trimmed it to the size and shape I wanted. It cost me $2.
I just lost 25 pounds--that has helped, too. |

Had mine since 75 and never knew there was a problem until I started reading posts on this board.
Then I picked up my guitar one day and thought that's a slippery sob to hang onto - stopped auditing this board and the problem went away - I still keep an eye on the for sale section though - might want to get another slippery guitar with a foil label some day...lol |

When my family enjoys hanging out with my friends, the evening becomes more special.
We did a roll reversal the next day. Rachel took us to a sports bar to meet her friends and pointed out to them that both of us were checking messages on our phones at one point. After Oregon started thumping Washington, it got sort of boring. |

Given the rainy Seattle weekend, going to the Roadshow and spending a Saturday afternoon watching football was pretty enjoyable. |
