Hey everyone!

It's been awhile since I've posted on here but I wanted to get back in touch. Last time I was posting was around a year ago when I was wondering after an 1869 Ovation Custom Legend (which I now happily own!).

Anyways, in February I'm coming out to Breckenridge and I seem to remember a number of you guys live out in Colorado. I'm coming out with a few friends and our express purpose is riding day and night 24/7 for the week that we're there. We'll be spending most of our time at Breckenridge mtn, but I'm wondering if anyone has any tips or places we should probably go and check out in terms of either nightlife or a mountain in particular. We're all in our mid 20's (24-26).

Any thoughts? Anyone want to meet up and ride with us?? :D

Breckenridge should meet your expectations very well. The town is within walking distance to the lifts. I would watch the snow reports/ski conditions and go wherever the snow is best. It can vary a lot in the space of 20 to 50 miles.

For years, I have been thinking about hosting a winter ski/OFC jam somewhere at one of the destination resorts. I did a number of these some years back and they were just a blast. Maybe when I retire in a couple of years.

Buy the Summit pass and ride/ski Copper, A Basin, Keystone, Winter Park, and Breck. Variety my man, variety.

Good/bad memories of that area. Last time there, last day, last run at Keystone, I blew out my left ACL and MCL. Only time I ever had to ride the patrol snowmobile down. Haven't skied since...Oh to be in my 20's again.

Actually a winter jam would be fun. I'm sure you'd get quite an audience for a hotel lobby jam.

Dark bar - only going to be out there for a week (to start). I would like to move out there. I'm pretty certain I won't be itching to come back here once I get out there. If anyone wants to give me a place to stay for awhile, I might just stay! ;)

We'd go out for 9 days and ski 3 or 4 different mountains. They are all good. Or take one day and hit China Bowl at Vail....only 40 minutes up the road.

Well I've been riding New Hampshire areas for awhile now (some Vermont) and I've seen video after video (after video) of conditions out in CO and it's hard to put into words how pumped I am for it.

My daughter lived in Keene for awhile. I was born in western Mass myself. My ancesters settled in the area just north of Northfield in the late 1600s.

For New England skiers used to ice and rocks, you're definitely in for a treat.

I'm actually still in Keene - I went to college here and have since moved back. Your daughter lived here past tense so I probably wouldn't know her.

T28 - wow. Mountains around here aren't even open yet. Ridiculous...why am I here again??

FOR SURE go to Vail! 30 minutes away if it's not snowing. Allow several days to see it (it's THAT big!).

THEN... Check out the Red Lion on Main St in Vail Village. Go on a night when owner Phil Long is playing (he plays most nights and has his gear set up permanently).

You'll be witness to the best keyboard player to ever play R&R! Great entertainer too.

I'm a snowboard mom and rider in NH...when we've been out there for the USASA nationals we rode Copper (obviously) but a number of us hit other mountains. Most of the teams train out at Copper in the early season. My son loved Beaver Creek and took on the Birds of Prey (steep and fast...he's a hardbooter). Vail was pretty cool too, and you need to hit the back bowls. But if you want laid back and fun, hit Winter Park/Mary Jane. My nephew's been out there for years...went there in his 20s and never left.

Since you're an ice coast rider, you'll find that you'll ride better than many of the folks you meet...if you can ride NH boilerplate, you can ride anywhere.

Wish I was going too...

Best run in the state (IMHO) is International at Crested Butte. Almost two miles in length, all black, usually groomed, very steep, mountain top to bottom, used for the downhill on the professional tour, and no crossing trails, so there's nobody to slow you down or to watch out for. Plus, there's a high-speed quad (could be a gondola by now) to take you right back to the top. Let it all burn on this one, baby!

I didn't even get out last year.
Gotta this year even if it's just the local little bump.

At this age I love the groomed and hate the bumps.
Used to be the other way around.

It'd be a cool place to gather but I don't think there is more than a small handful of skiers here.
Wait... wait... I just got an image.... Al on skis.

I bet AlanM would be a real fast skier. I'd be the one in the Hot Chili's and Mink collared jacket.

One of the main reasons I moved here was the skiing. Back then I had the legs, but no money, so when I went, I'd ski from opening to closing. When they started using the high speed quads I found out my quads needed the rest that they got on the slow speed doubles or triples.
Now that I could afford it, my legs can't handle much skiing. I've only been up once each of the last two years and I'm only 15 miles from a couple of small (1700 foot verticle) hills.
If Slipkid ever returns to Sun Valley, though, I'll make sure my legs are in shape.

A lot of us might be able to relate to Toby Keith's lyrics . . . I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was.

This is good to know I'll try to keep this in mind.

It's my buddy's girlfriends' birthday while we're out there, and through her work we got some awesome discounts on the trip, so we want to bring her somewhere awesome for dinner/drinking. If people have more suggestions for Breckenridge area spots to check out, please let me know!!

And yeah I've heard that riding the 'ice coast' is good training. Breckenridge has a 22-foot superpipe right? I'm gonna be spending a lot of time there..

Well, it's not just a sleigh ride. You load into sleighs, it takes you through the mountains to a private ranchhouse, where the ranchers cook you an incredible dinner, serve lots of booze, and play live music, then take you back. About 3-4 hours.
Or you might prefer this

The private ranch sleighride idea isn't bad. The strip club might be in the wrong direction ;) I'm thinking more of just good, classy, vibrant restaurants and social bars. Both in one would be perfect.

Beano's Cabin in Beaver Creek is a similar experience... highly recommended. Also, my friend Shannon Tanner at the Hyatt there does a great show as well.

If you do make it to Vail, definitely see Phil at the Red Lion and just down the lane, Rod Powell at Rods Place. If you see any of these guys, please give them my best...

Where might one go to find some events going on around the town without knowing anyone there?

Imperial Chair at Breckenridge - stay there all day.

My favorite bar in Breck is The Dredge - kind of a dive but that's what I like about it.

Go to Vail for the day and go DIRECTLY to Blue Sky Basin (trust me on this)

Get there early and then get out of there early before you get stuck - it's ALWAYS snowing and the drive SUCKS.

I'm jealous.

I also have a Legend.
