Began his career as a serious actor, turned into a seriously good comic. Similar to Kelsey Grammer. Very cool.

Red Buttons: "Leslie Nielsen who said, 'Well ... We shot a lot of people together. It's been great. But today I retire, so if I do any shooting now, it'll have to be within the confines of my own home. Hopefully, an intruder and not an in-law, like at my bachelor party.'

HE never played an Ovation."

I actually met him once at a local tavern in Gulfport, MS quite a few years ago.
Very nice and personable guy.
He will be missed.

A great Canadian (born February 11, 1926 in Regina, Saskatchewan...) and a very funny guy.
To remain so deadpan and straight faced while doing such OTT comedy showed his true artistry.

He will be sadly missed.

I saw a brief interview on the news. He was asked what his epitaph should be. He said "Let him RIP" and then he farted.

Check out "Forbidden Planet" from 1956--it showed Star Trek how to boldy go where no man had gone before with Leslie in the Capt. Kirk role.
