Location: Phoenix, AZ | Does anyone else have problems with the alignment of their hard-shell case? When I received my guitar (an Ovation Legend 1617-1) for Christmas back in 1981, it was a challenge to fasten the latches on the case. These days, it's well-nigh impossible! It feels as though the case is warped or sprung.
I'm curious to know whether this is an anomaly with my case or a common characteristic. |

Location: Phoenix, AZ | I'm not opposed to buying a new case after 30 years, but I'll reiterate my intial question: Is it common or characterstic of the Ovation hard-shell cases to be very difficult to latch? My case has always been a chore to fasten, sometimes requiring two people. I've not had similar problems with other guitar cases. |

Or have UPS do that for you by leaving the box in the sun in July... |

Location: Hot Springs, S.D. | The latching problem is more common on the older brown cases. The brittle/breakage problem is more common on the newer black cases. The Zero Gravity case is nice, but anything with a zipper is prone to having the zipper break. If you're careful with your stuff, I think it would be wise to invest in one of the better new black cases. I don't remember the stock number, but there is a thread here somewhere talking about them. I think they are worth the extra money as they are less likely to break. |

Location: Phoenix, AZ | Ah. My case is one of the older brown ones, so that fits. At some level, it's comforting to know that the problem with my case isn't unique. I'll look for another case, but my bigger problem is a big, upturned split on the midline of the guitar's soundboard from the bridge to the bottom edge. I'm hopeful that the skilled folks in New Hartford can breathe some new life into an old guitar. |

Location: Reading, Pa. | I just took a hammer to the foam liner to create a custom fit to match my guitar. PS. The Ovation cases are made by SKB. I also cut the foam out of the storage compartment so my strap would fit in there. |
