Probably better for him to have been whacked at the top of his game than end up doing three shows a day at Vegas in a world where the peace, love and understanding crap hasn't exactly worked out like he wrote about back in the day. Turns out that writing songs doesn't make the bad guys go away and you still need a big stick to stay free.

There is so much in that statement I do not get. But hey it's almost Christmas so we'll just let it fly on by.

I'm not sure JL would agree with that. I think he'd rather be alive.

When my dad died a couple of years ago, he left me a large record collection containing The beatles 1st and 2nd albums and LOTS of others also, including All original Beatles, Paul McCartney, Rolling Stones, Jonny Cash, Elvis etc... I now have about 9 large tubs full of records. I really enjoy putting on some of that vinyl and listening once in a while.

SOrry he is gone in the way he did, but I never got the facination for him OR the Beatles.

Just never go into the Brittish sound. Not a Stones fan either...

Just days before he died Esquire had a front page article about him, and I remember thinking that he was a cool dude, loved his songs from the primal therapy stage and before that with happiness is a warm gun ... mama. I thought he was great.

I mostly 'got' the Beatles a bit more than I did Lennon. And Yoko? What a kindergarten poetry contest on acid cat strangling trainwreck she is!
Have to agree, he didn't need to go out that way.

All ya need is love. John Lennon. Smart man. Shot in the back.

Ditto on not caring much for the post-Beatles Lennon.

Ditto on wishing Yoko had never made it to my radar screen.

David Chapman was not a bad person.

Just a poor aim.

Ironically he was aiming for OMA, who kept pestering Mr. Lennon for money.
