Interesting Al. Are these deep or contour bowls? And what would distinguish an Adamas WT from an Elite except for trim?

Looking forward to pics. These sound interesting....

oops I meant to say 2011

the 2080 type is contour but I said that.

the others are deep bowl.

well it would be the hand laid fiberglass bowl and the bowl ring that makes the elite and Adamas WT different.

I guess i thought that stuff was obvious sorry if i was not clear.

So it looks like that wood topped Adamas that I lusted after at the Roadshow wasn't my last chance. For anyone who didn't get to try the Adamas guitars at a Roadshow, they were excellent. Imagine a 1537 that's lighter and has a deeper bowl and you'd be pretty close to the WT Adamas.

I played the wood-topper at the roadshow. It was Nice.
But I had the same thought that isn't a wood-topped Adamas just a Custom Elite?
Then I was reminded of the suspension ring.
Also, I would think that the WT Adamas would have Adamas Bracing...
Whereas everything nowadays seems to be leaning towards LX Scalloped X bracing.'
(but I could be wrong, and the Roadshow WT I didn't get to look inside)

Couple of good points OMA. Slightly deep body means more sound. And the Quintad bracing of the Adamas is what was used on the Elites (or something very similar). Oughta be a killer sounding guitar...

The wood-top adamas at the roadshow was extremely nice! If that was the pre-cursor to this new 2011 model, I think I may be begging SWMBO for forgiveness in the near future...

This is good news after the doom and gloom of the past six months.

Hey, you also said that all US models were going to be custom shop only!

It's good to see textured top, broccoli and hand laid bowls making into the regular line up. Someone at Ovation has been watching this website.

Will be interesting to see how this goes.

I'm sure these guitars will all be "built to order" meaning in fact that they are Custom Shop. Ovation isn't stupid enough to prebuild guitars that they know are very pricey and will only appeal to a small handful of people. They certainly will not be heavily advertised or available in your local GC. I think they are already sitting on far too many of "those".

The Wood Top Adamas is interesting (I own the 12-string one from the Roadshow) and probably their way of saying that they have ceased to build any more Ovation models in CT without actually coming out and saying it. You want a USA wood top roundback - Here it is.

Hope this goes over well. It's an interesting time to be introducing a line of $3000. guitars.

So the Adamas name will no longer mean just carbon fiber tops. Instead it will represent Ovation's top of the line.
I'm good with that.

Other than the offshore models, it looks like the "bang for your buck" days are over.

At every factory tour I've been to, Moody has jumped up during the Q&A sessions to suggest that Ovation isn't charging enough for their guitars. I guess they listened.
Damn you Moody..... damn you!!

Even though this about guilds, the folks at Mandolin Bros. believe that the product "that Guild is now producing at their plant in New Hartford, CT are the highest quality acoustic instruments they have made since their earliest days in business."

Even though it's in a guild press release, I believe Mando Bros. So for those who can swing it, the gits will be the usual excellent quality.
