Location: northern virginia | I have the opportunity to pick up an Elite LX for a good price....the only US made LX I have (or have ever played) is a Balladeer LX....it plays well, and sounds nice, but the sound is not....big, like the older US models. Does anyone have an Elite LX, and if so, do you like it? |

Location: Jet City | I imagine you have a mid-bowl model and that could be why you're not getting the "big sound" of the older models. Depending on the EliteLX it could be similar in volume if you are looking at the 1778LX (or the lesser appointed standard Elite 6778LX), but I have listened to both and the sound of the Elite is MUCH MORE pleasing to my ears. The tones are warm and sweet whereas I thought the tones of the Balladeer were a bit flat.
I've had my 1778LX since it first hit the market and loved it dearly. I did just let it go to another member as I recently bought a Custom 2078LX to match my belly. |

Location: Utah | Yes, I like my 6778LX very much. It is the mid depth bowl. The OpPro preamp works beautifully in it, too.
Are you looking at a mid bowl or a deep contour? The deep contour is a bit bassier, making it sound a bit fuller and possibly a bit louder. I'm not sure if you mean tone or volume in your description of "big".
The Patriot I just picked up is a center hole deep bowl from 1976. It is quite a loud guitar. Perhaps the older deep bowls were louder in general? I think that this Patriot is louder than my Adamas 2080 with the deep contour bowl.
Compared to older guitars you'll find the LX to not be neck heavy when playing standing up. |

I really love my Custom Elite. She continues to open up as I log hours. The neck is comfortable under my hand and the contour bowl makes for a big sound. It sounds as big as my old 1617, but is even more comfortable. The neck is not as fast as my 1617. The electronics are great!
I've played quite a few O's and A's at a member house, and the CE is close to most and superior to some... It does have a big sound, IMHO.
I like it better than my 07 collector, BTW. I see it being awesome as it ages...

Location: northern virginia | My New Years Resolution is to stop buying guitars - in 2011 at least - so I am now really excited about this "last one"...I've always thought the 2078 looked stellar, and I'm glad to hear its sound can match. |

Location: SW Washington | I bought a 6778LX Elite from Damon last year and every day I love it more! I play it every single day! It was my first acoustic "O" and I just got an iDea this week so now I have two. (my first "O" was an old Thunderhead back in the late 70's...what I wouldn't give to have THAT back!) |

Location: Derry NH | Mucho tx to Damon for the 1778LX. It is wonderful. The silking? My daughter got it spot on... it's like a hologram. I get compliments on it whenever I pull it out and play. Yeah, it has a particular quality unplugged. Plugged in... stand the F back. |

Location: northern virginia | Here is my new (to me) C2078LX. I am so very thankful to have run across it and to have been in a position to jump on it...I always feel there are never any Craigslist "finds" here in Northern Virginia, but this one really proves me wrong...the fellow I got it from is a keyboard player that received it as a gift, and he never played it - she is pristine condition without a bit of fretwear or a mark on her.....$500 :D
