Location: NW of Philadelphia | Yeah... I know. This is a far cry from the Johnny A or Barney Kessel I was looking for, but after 40 years I finally joined the Gibson club.
I bought a (new) 2008 Gibson Longhorn DC HS. Guitar of the month for November 2008. Mahogany neck and back, AA figured maple top, (2) EMG 85s, and a LR Baggs Piezo Bridge.
I love the look, feel, and sound of this guitar. The 60s neck is sweet and its lighter than a LP. It has dual jacks, one for the EMGs alone, and another for the piezo straight or with EMGs blended in so she can go from Country to Hard Rock with no problem.
Odd though... standard Double Cuts are considered Les Pauls, but Longhorns aren't.
This actually my second Longhorn. I bought one on the New Years Day. I had the shop install strap locks. Got her home and found a number of issues I didn't notice at the shop. They chipped the paint while installing the strap locks. The neck was dead straight and needed relief along with the action being a bit high. I went to lower the bridge and found it was bottomed out... not good. So I took it back and they shop decided to swap it out for another they had. So after a few days and some minor adjustments, I have my first Gibson. |

The headstock inlay is called the "flower pot". It showed up on Gibson headstocks in the early 1900s. |

| Nice guitar - though the fact that you had to get two to get one tells you all you need to know about Gibson's quality control - are the pups active or passive?
The sooner Henry goes and somebody who understands QC gets the job the better.
