Location: Route 66, just east of the Cadillac Ranch | Is anyone aware of Ovation producing any Balladeers with a 2-piece neck, let's say around the year 1967? If so, are there any pics on the web you can point me to? BTW, I looked through ovationgallery.com and ovationtribute.com and didn't find anything.
Thanks in advance,

Location: SoCal | All the guitars then had 5 piece necks. In the 80's the Balladeers had 2 piece necks. |

Location: Scotland | I have a book somewhere that shows a very early Balladeer with a 2 piece neck. Every other detail is correct, headstock profile, 5-point braz bridge, no heel cap, shiney bowl, narrow rope rosette, Kluson tuners. But it definately has a 2 or possibly even 1 piece neck. Never seen another before or since but it appears legit |

The gold Ovation decal on the peghead is all but completely faded with only a darkened raised area remaining, identical to what I've seen on other guitars of the same vintage. You mentioned profile, which I had not thought of, and the profile is the same as #045.
One other difference I see is the heel cap on this guitar is topped with rosewood, unlike #045. I may never know for sure if the neck is original, but at this point I can't rule it out.
Thanks for your help.

Location: Scotland | I just came across the book that has the pic of the early Balladeer. I'll scan and post it in the next couple of days. The grain patterns on the back of the headstocks are different and the headstock logo is less faded on the guitar in the book, so there are definately at least 2 examples of early Balladeers with 2-piece necks. |

Location: 6 String Ranch | that one pictured is real and original, nobody would go to that much trouble to make the shape exactly like the real early ones. |
