Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | Thanks everyone. One wouldn't think I really needed to fly all the way here to find that I'm full of something, but maybe I did.
I was released this morning from the hospital. When I got outside, I realized I had only been "outside" in HI for less than 2 hours total since arriving last Thursday. I haven't had any real food since last Wednesday and to top it all off, they don't really know what caused the blockage and I'm technically not out of the woods.
On the bright side, I found a fun Ukulele store a few blocks from here with several gorgeous Ukulele. Real nice Koa. No Ovations, but there was one very out of place looking Fender??? It had a Tele style headstock... just looked wrong to me.
Thanks again for the wishes and thoughts. Play On... |

Location: GA USA | Where on what island? I found a few cool music stores in HI, but Bounty Music in Maui was a treat. They had a lot of Ovation guitars too. People in Hawai'i seem to have the proper respect for the O's.
Glad you feel better. |

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | Thanks for all the kind words. I'm back in Washington now. Officially the worst vacation ever. We did get to go back to the Polynesian Cultural Center show on their invite (that's where my ambulance ride started) so that was nice. Also noted the Acoustic guitars were all Ovation.... as I would expect. As a few others will attest, Ovations have been and likely always be the instrument of choice for any professional musician in Hawaii. Nothing else can stand the constant temp and humidity changes. Over there a guitar has to be able to go from heat/humid to cool/humid to inside cool air-conditioned and dry from one set to the next... every day, and unless you just want to spend your time tuning, you get an Ovation.
But other than a couple of nice meals, and a trip to the Bowfin and Might Mo, that was the extent of "vacation." I'm not convinced there isn't surgery or chimo (or both) in my near future, but I'm eating real food again which is nice.
Again.. thanks.. |
