Hello everyone! Several folks over at peaveyt60.com told me about this board knowing how much I like my Ovation, and suggested that I join.......and here I am. I've had my CS247 a couple years now, and I love it !!! The top/color was referred to as "Quilted Nutmeg" and I think rather pretty. This is a mid-depth bowl and sounds good as a pure acoustic but goes to WOW when plugged in. I have a photo of her up on my Artist MySpace, http://www.myspace.com/duanemantick

Just look at the main page and on the left select "View My pics" and open the album titled "my guitars". You'll also see "my amps" there too for whatever that is worth......... :)

(oh and in the shameless plug dept., while you're there feel free to do a "view my profile" and listen to some tunes of mine - there are some blog entries there that tell a bit more about them)

Hope to meet some Ovation-lovin' friends and neighbors here and learn more about not only my own but find others perhaps with similar guitars and learn from their experiences.

Duane

:D You can pick up some $uperior Ovation$ and Adama$ guitar$ from other member$ here, many you never even knew about, much less knew you needed. Keep an eye out in the For Sale section, especially for stuff from this guy who goes by Trader Jim. ;)

Howdy Duane. Not a neighbor, but I was in Ft. Wayne two weeks ago! ;) BeatleWho, huh ... reminds me of the question posed by a journalist to Ringo - "Are you a mod or a rocker?". Ringo - "Neither. I'm a mocker". Plenty of mockers around here to keep you amused. Welcome.

Welcome Duane, just for your own good, there are a few members you should steer clear of cause they will get you into some serious guitar buying trouble. One is that Trader Jim....uh..oh wait, forget about it. ;)

Welcome Duane,
In my short list of O guitars I also have a CS247 deluxe NQM. You've found a twin on the other side of the Ocean.

All fourths provides pure symmetry of scale and chord shapes. Great open chords too. The only challenge was to re-invent good "cowboy chords" in order to jam along with everyone else. Quite doable, in the end!

Wow Gregg,

Interesting stuff, but would that imply experimenting with string gauges , so as to ensure an even "pull" in order to prevent , say , neck -twisting ,

and is that " all -fourths " tuning used on , "Meditterenian sundance " ( nicely romantic ) , " Spain " ( Flamenco spiced ? ) and , using percussion on " Bozo`s waltz ", makes one rock back and forth , :)

Excellent Work !!

Vic

..no roses without thorns , why has " Tamboura " been deleted ?..

I'm re-grouping, Vic: tinkering with the page. I plan a new MySpace and a new YouTube account (had some trouble with the old one...)

Thanks for checking it out. Do you like the medley of tunes on our front page (guitarsoffire.com)? It starts with a solo in Fantasia Suite, then to a Burns Original and then on to Tamboura! All short clips of course...

YukkkkSnicker. Which of course explains why the T60 made it into full production and the PF didn't. :p Which is unfortunate - one of the guys over at T60 recently got one, and it looks like a VERY nice axe indeed. The story, which I have heard, is pretty funny in a lot of ways and we all had a good laugh........

Just missed ya here in the Hoosier state, then.

Did the friend add on MySpace, and enjoyed the take on "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away". Well played! I like to trot that one out now and then myself. You might gather from my board name that I have a certain interest in the Fab Four and yup, The WHO as well although getting Pete Townshend stuff working can drive one to near insanity!

Oh, I'm reminded of.....

"How did you find America?" "Turned left at Greenland". :D

Never played one - sticks in my head that this is another of the "Unaffordium" guitars....kinda like all the ones that I'd REALLY like to own!
