Auction
Estimate $1.5 to $2K, but I'm guessing it'll go for way more. |

Location: Scotland | more evidence that Ovations get no respect. In fairness if you go through the catalog, most of the estimates are reasonable. But ultimately the Clapton provenance will inflate the final values to way beyond reasonable. |

| I'm surprised the auction estimate is that low. Any Adamas I that age is worth that. With proven provenance that should go for a lot more, what with EC's sweat all over it. Seriously, it can only go up in value over time. |

.
Click to the right of that Adamas and you'll find a couple more Ovations.
Did Clapton use and play these guitars? |

If we actually knew the truth, he probably never touched it, or he wouldn't be selling it. I think he could raise a lot more money selling his personal collection of pictures of Layla. |

Possible; at least in the first part...he is selling some treasured older stuff for the center so it's hard to say what he'd keep if he thought it could raise funds. The auction features a lot of his early amp's and guitar rigs...some cool stuff...Not so many guitars as the past several Christie's auctions...Looks like they are getting into the heart of the warehouse and I am sure that he is not exactly guitar poor...it all goes to a great cause...be interesting to see what the certificates they have valued at $450 go for...the one's for "Layla" and "Tears in Heaven" should certainly bring big bucks...
His guitar tech handles most of the collection and in the past a lot of the acquisition process as well. |
