Hi all, I've been lurking for a while.
You haven't scared me away yet & seem like a pretty good bunch. I've learned quite a bit & been entertained at times, even drooled a little at some of your collections.

A little background, played for a few years when I was young. When I got out of high school I slacked, couldn't make any money at it & had to get a real job, then there was that chasing girls thing and it all got in the way of my guitar which was eventually sold. I was an electric guy then but always like the roundback a friend had. Mentioned to the wife before Christmas I wanted to play again & she got me a cheap electric to start with when I really wanted an acoustic.(Into blues fingerstyle now) Thats ok, so a couple months later I decided to start with an ebay special. Something I couldn't hurt to much so I got a CC157, plays good for an inexpensive guitar & I got callouses again.
Now I have an itch for another, after being in my local shop (Elderly) last weekend and playing a dozen different guitars I kept going back to the O's but can't decide.
I'm sure when I decide I'm ready I will get some good guidence here.

Keep up the good work

Wally

Welcome Wally.

I don't have much of a collection either, but they let me play here....so far.

I gather from the gossip that the Elite T is a fire-sale item down your way these days.

Welcome, Wally. As you probably know by now, you have a couple of neighbors among the group. Jump in wherever you can - you'll be family in no time.

Blues fingerstyle, eh? Going to be gigging with it or just playing around...?

Welcome birddog. Your story is a lot like that of many, many of us here. My collection started just before I joined this board about a year and a half ago. If your local store is Elderly you are one lucky son-of-a-gun. Best of luck with your search and keep us posted.

aloha and welcome wally! you've entered at your own risk but apparently counted some of the cost before doing so. i agree with fillhixx, check out the elite T's if you can find one in your neighborhood or on line. the production of them is shifting to korea so there is a great opportunity to buy the last "made in USA" units of those and a few other models at amazingly discounted prices.

What? Heard of an meteroid and an asterite. Asterisk? Is it a deep space object or just Hawaiian?

Well, I resemble that remark too! C'mon over and let's compare reading levels. Carborundum for you, sir.

Ah yes, what were we talking about? I myself have been greatly influenced by George Russell's "Lydian Chromatic Concept of Tonal Organization" (seriously). The idea of prioritizing the tonal row (scale), and getting away from chord-fixation was welcome. I was particularly excited by the "promotion" of the Lydian Mode as the essential major scale of modern music (well, jazz anyway). Think about it: the Tonic is always embellished in ways that are spelled Major7 SHARP 11, hence Lydian. You can ALWAYS slip in the glorious lydian tonality. And THEN... if you are willing to use the FLAT seven, voila! a mode of the Melodic Minor. Pure heaven.

I still resemble that remark

Thanks for the replies
I had a feeling this would have gotten hijjacked, sometimes my attention span isn't what it used to be. Lost a few brain cells in the 70's too.
My sister went by Beave I believe.
Oh HumblePie, One of my alias's was Effer John J. Ragdolly III but it was to long now I just go by Wally, Walt and whatever else my wife wants to call me.

Welcome Birddog,

Glad you're here. As mentioned the Elite T gives a lot of bang for the buck.

Of course you could wait a few days and see what Trader Jim,(AKA "The Ol' Trader") has to offer.

I stopped at Guitar Center tonight and saw a nice red Balladeer LX for $699. The had the Elite T next to it for $599, but I'd take the Balladeer for the extra hundred.

Sounds like Michigan may be ready for a jam this summer.

Great sig line, Wally. I once had a neighbor with three big red bloodhounds that he'd turn loose every morning to chase squirrels around the forest. When it was time to call them home, he'd yell out their names . . . "Newton, Jebediah and Jones!" Best names for a trio of hounds I ever heard.

Ha! I thought the same thing!

If there was ever enough interest, I'd host an OFC / Michigan jam.
