Location: Newington, CT | I've identified some very nice chords recently.
First a little background: As some of you probably know, I like to do some leads along with a nice backing track. Well, if you pay some attention to the notes you use from string to string, you can construct some nice chords from those observations.
They weren't like the usual chords that I was playing, so they have proven difficult for me, but my transitions are improving day-by-day.
I don't know a lot about music theory, so I'll give you my best guess as to what the chord is. They're mostly chords that can be used up and down the fretboard, so my assessment (really: guess) of what the chord actually is depends on the fretboard position indicated. In this case, as you'll see if you try them, I've centered most of these around the 7th fret, but they can move.
So, without further ado, here are the chords that I've uncovered this way recently, and that I'm practicing now.
I'd be grateful if someone more knowledgeable than I could tell me what each one is.
Chord 1 -- Some variation of F?)

1) Am6 add9 (no third)
2) A7 add9 (no fifth)
3) Cmaj7
4) G but contains both a major and minor third (B & Bb) Probably only works as a passing chord
5) Gmaj
6) A add9
7) As chord 6 but now contains an A# so A and A# (plus the B) together will make it dischordant, so again a passing chord only
8) C add11
9 & 10) Am |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | What Beal said. This stuff can get crazy. For example, using the chord namer in the dropdown menu appearing on the left side of the website homepage, I plugged in your first chord and the following results came up:

Location: 6 String Ranch | Of course you should list them sideways, so there's no question about which is the high string and which is Bass. Going verticle you start with the bass to treble, but it looks like you did it the other way.
76570x is B+add#9
78670x is Bdim7
78910xx doesn't exist so they got to be backwards |

Like you are looking down at the strings while holding the guitar.

Oh, DB, I tried your Em dim7 to the 9th quartile. Worked out ok. I have kinda mondo hands...
Just kidding! My hands ARE mondo...just not quite THAT mondo!
So, has anyone tried them? Does anyone use any of them regularly?
I'm doing my best transitions with #'s 1,3,9,10. Though 9 and 10 are easy, since they're just regular chords I'm already familiar with moved up the fretboard. |

Guitar Toolkit
It's the very best tool I've ever owned. Not only does it have a half million chords built in (for 6/7/12 string guitar, 4/5/6 string bass. banjo, mandolin, and uke), but you can place the dots on the fretboard and it will tell you what chord it is. It has a built in metronome, scales, and a tuner that works better than most I own. Again, these features work across the board on all the above listed instruments.
I looked long and hard at different apps, and this one was by far the most robust.
Unfortunately for Android users it's only available on iPhone.
