Anyone done this? How were the results? More overdrive? |

Anyone done this? How were the results? More overdrive? What you are trying to do was very common on old Marshall amps, the ones with 4 inputs. One would go guitar into input one, from input 2 out into input 3 with a patch chord. Each of the two inputs have their own volume (kind of like a two channel amp with 2 inputs each). One channel is bright, the other dark. Mixed together they gave you that great OD tone of the sixties/seventies with more gain (Hendrix and Blackmore etc.)
Also works on 59 Bassmans
On a "regular" amp with 2 inputs for one channel, it would generally reduce power if you either plug in two instruments of split one into two. (not recommended)

Location: NJ | you can preamp one channel into the next with a 2 channel amp
but generally when these say high and low they are referring to a db cut or sometimes an eq cut
some of the inputs would have a resistor on the inputs
doubt if you would like the results if you combined them.
this reminds me of when I was a kid I had (still have it) a black face prineton reverb and I would plug my guitar into input 1 the bass into input 2 and then we would wire in a mic by taking apart the jack of the mic and alligator clipping it onto the bass input.
we were poor and damn did I blow up speakers |
