But, I've pumped LOTS of $$$, especially for me, into repairs and complete rebuilds at the factory. In fact, I'll be paying my largest guitar bill ever (including the cost for my Martin D-42) when it comes due from New Hartford in the next few months. |

Reading the responses it's no wonder the concentration is now on custom and/or limited runs. That seems to be mostly what people are admitting to. |

Then When I ordered through Al I found out it was no longer standard finish, and paid extra for it. I think I set the record for most ever paid for a Balladeer S771.
I sold it for $300 less than I paid. |

At that time, the local Pop shop carried the AA13, and then GC had a good selection of USA Ovations.
The used O's that I did buy were because the factory no longer made the models I wanted. Patriot (Katie stops by to play it even though Sara is off at college), Viper, Preacher. |

Why ? Because i am very pleased with those i have at home and also because i like other brands like Godin, Gretsch, Lowden, and some luthiers as well :-)).
To make a long story short, I bought only one NEW Ovation guitar in my life, it was a 1868-4 Elite model in year 1990 in Paris (from one of the late Marcel Dadi music stores), and i sold it at the end of year 2007 to a young french guitarist dreaming of owning one.
Actually all my Ovation's or Adamas are used ones bought to OFC members within years 2006 and 2010.
If i had to buy one new more, it would be a custom 1187-2 very close to the one of ProfBB .
Hope this could happen one day ! |
