Very nice instrument sounds great.
The rosewood finger board felt real nice.
It felt like deeper than a deep bowl.... is it?

At it's deepest spot, it's deeper than the deepest deep bowl, which in turn, deepens it's deepness.

Maybe it was the suspension ring that made it feel deeper than a wood topped deep bowl O?

It's a mid-depth bowl, not a deep bowl....

I wouldn't put too much into what's on the site. This page contradicts itself.

I think all the 1581s are deep.

Its Not a Mid bowl. I had a mid bowl with me this substantsubstantially deeper. I felt deeper my deep bowls. I think maybe that its 6 1/16th deep like early Adamas models. It was deeper than 5 13/16th of deep bowl for sure. I had to sit down with it because the reach distance was starting to both my back. (I have an upper back injury) It would have to be a sitting down with it. I am curious what the deepth is.

You know, the marketing people are not doing this model any justice.

When it first came out I was going to buy one for Sara as her graduation gift. It was initially listed as a wide neck, which was a requirement for Sara's guitar. Then I found a conflict between being deep and mid depth, and was told it was mid depth (in an email forwarded from the factory via the #1 Adamas dealer). Then the neck width was contradicted, and Mr. Big verified that it was normal width, not wide.

So at that point it was a mid depth normal nut width guitar, according to the factory. And not available in her original pastel blue, either, without a serious upcharge. Later on the bowl was corrected to be deep.

Jeez, not very inspiring of confidence on the part of the factory as to what exactly might arrive on the doorstep for the $2500ish price. (Which is another story in itself, that the list price was as uncertain as the other specs).

No they are not. If blindly ordered it you would be shocked when it arrived. Its being advertised as a mid bowl and it not. They need to get thier act together sooner rather.

If popcritic will verify that Kaki is tiny, at least we all should be able to agree on that.
I thought that the 1581s were now midbowl, but the original 1581s and the 1581 30th anniversary RI were deep. Anyone have proof on that?

I have not seen the newer single eppie 1581s in person, but I can verify the originals and RIs to be deep.

There are inconsistancies throughout the website. People are pretty serious about info on their instruments, especially on something as high end as an Adamas or Custom level O.

I agree their act should "get together". It doesn't inspire confidence when they don't even know what it is they're selling. Seems like their's a big disconnect between the folks who care about and know what it is they're doing in New Hartford, and the marketing/corporate people putting out unfinished and unverified info just to call the website "done". They just don't get it.

It's one thing to have incorrect info on discontinued models, but it's absolutely rediculous and bad form to have false info on current offerings.

Uh... I thought that ALL Adamas (and USA Ovations) were Custom-Order now?

So you can get it however you want, right? :p

there are some standard models
kaki
melissa
al d
the 4 adamas guitars they introduced
ad 1
ad 2
ad wood top
ad 1 cutaway
(I am guessing on these 4 at least 3 are right)

and the rest are custom but you can order anything you want how you like it

the spec issues on ovation adamas have caused me many sleepless nights

I can attest to the fact that my 1581 30th Anniversary single-epi model is a deep bowl.
