Location: Chicago | Classical pianist Glenn Gould had Petula Clark as his "guilty pleasure." Most of us are serious about "our" genre (classic rock, jazz, country etc). So what is your MUSICAL guilty pleasure?
Confession: I will take in a side of Pantera now and then, especially from "Vulgar Display of Power." Then I worry: does it speak to my inner National Socialist? |

Presupposes an ability to feel guilt.
Or the ability to do something worthy of it.

Unfortunately, I probably have too many to list, but I'll try. Including many I used to treat with utter disdain. I've liked one whole heckuva lot of genres in my day, then left them, only to work my way eventually back to them all...
So, here goes: pop, rock, hard rock, jazz (and its various flavors: free, smooth, improvisational, contemporary), classical/orchestral (and most of its flavors: baroque, classical, romantic, impressionistic, contemporary, opera, light opera, light orchestral), flamenco, Russian folk, Italian folk, French folk.
I'm sure I missed more than a few.
I really like lots of examples of all of 'em. Though I feel guilty, I s'pose, only about pop, rock and hard rock.
Never really cottoned to disco, grunge, punk, death metal, heavy metal, rap, hip hop, and don't have any guilty pleasures in any of 'em. |

Location: 6 String Ranch | Mamma Mia was pretty lame but the thing I liked about it was that they actually had to sing, it wasn't a real singer dubbed in. Yes, Pierce can't sing but I give him a 10 for singing anyway, and pulling it off (sortof) |

Location: Chicago | As a mild form of the guilty pleasure: I'll often remember suddenly some Top 40 tune I have not heard for 40 years. What a KICK to get it instantly on YouTube. For example, the other day, I rediscovered the "Rapper" by the Jaggerz.... what a great tune! Or "Little Green Bag" by George Baker Selection (looking back on the track for my little green bag...). Today I recalled a weird tune with pedophile overtones, can't quite place it "into my room he creeps.... without.... making... a sound....) Man, the 60s and 70s were WEIRD! |
