Location: Connersville, Indiana | This last weekend one the of the grandchildren asked me, in my music room. Is there a guitar you would trade you favorite one for.
So I wonder, what kind of guitar would you trade your favorite Ovation for, even up no money involved.
Would it be an old Gibson Black Beauty, a 50's telecaster or a 1931 Martin.
Me I can't think of one I would trade for. My favorite is the guitar I wrote the first song for Karen, so it would never go anywhere, How about you? |

Original 1953 (late one with the stopbar tailpiece) Gibson Les Paul.
That was a very good year!!

Hmmm... 335? I might trade my white Breadwinner for an Aria TA-100: http://www.matsumoku.org/models/ariaproii/ta/ta.html

That said, and with two exceptions (the custom Koa VXT and the custom 1187 SSB), I don't think I would find it difficult to part with any one of them for the right replacements. |

Location: GATLINBURG TENNESSEE :) | I can't say as that I have tried another guitar that "does it for me" like my favorite Adamas/Ovations. I've tried out some very nice, old, high dollar ones (some 20-30K)at Elderly in Lansing, MI, and have not been as impressed at the end of the day, when I've gone home and played mine. Oh yes, there is the roundback instability issue on the older ones, and there are still some that I haven't tried yet (McPherson), But it would take a lot to win me over to the other side of the tracks. |

But then there's the Patriot, and that is as much a favorite as the 2080. There's no guitar I'd trade it for in terms of playing joy. |

Redundancy can be a good thing...
After a few years of buying, selling, etc. I have finally reached the point of owning what I want to keep having experienced those I lusted after for years along the way...I am thankful for what I have... |

| Good question, if I was looking to swap it for something worth a lot of money then the answer would be a 1959 Les Paul. But if it was for a guitar I really wanted to keep for ever I would go with either a 1979 Candy apple red Schecter Strat, or a late 80's Pensa-Suhr. |

In the summer of 1980, I had spent the day in Manhattan. Was in Manny's and Sam Ash on W.48th St. Across the street was a small custom shop that specialized in Schechters and Rudy Pensa Suhr guitars. Just chock full of them. Beauties. The Pensa Suhrs were something special. |
