Location: michigan | I spoke with SLIPKID. So far, Slipkid and Brian are in.
Hope to bring back GuitarWannabe, Twistedlim, and hopefully we can get BVINCE to come down from the Caddilac area.
We had about 10 folks drop by last summer. The date is Sunday, August 14th. Harsens Island Michigan (about 1 1/2 hours from Detroit).
You can see Canada from our Cottage, really.
Anyone else who wants to come down let us know.
I think we had about 18 ovation/adamas guitars last time.
I was thinking we could go from about NOON on Sunday, until 6 or 7pm (similar to our last get together).
More details, maps, loose agenda, etc. to follow.
Start letting us know via this thread if you think you might make it. Come one, come all.
On Saturday, August, 13th, Harsens Island is having their 2nd annual Bluegrass Festival.
On Sunday, the wife will be hosting boat rides, etc. and we'll have the usual BBQ fixins. Bring your significant others if you like. We'll try and get a head count closer to the event. Were right on the canal with a short ride to Lake St. Clair.
Please reply to this thread if you think you can make it (and don't forget to bring the Ovation/Adamas guitars)...
Harsens Island is a nice escape.

Location: GATLINBURG TENNESSEE :) | I REALLY like the sound of this, and I want to go... BUT ... I have two grandchildren due the beginning of August. So I'd have to shoot from the hip. If the wife and I fly out of Detroit or Flint for the big day, I MAY be able to fly back to Detroit early-on by myself. If that happens it would make it a convenient diversion. (: |

The boat is tucked away nicely at a marina. I store her empty and we just haven't had the weather or $$$ to fill up with petrol yet. Like anything (*cough* guitars *cough*), it's all about the priorities. We may not take many long trips this year, but we'll still run around and back and forth from the island to the mainland.
Hope to see you there!

Location: michigan | Just a friendly reminder that our Harsens Island Jam II is less than a month away. I will be unvailing my latest MWOODY Creation, Years in the making (just kidding). Man he sure does good work. I guarantee that this ovation electric will dazzle.
I wanted to make a special request to those who have confirmed attendance. I would love for us to play an all acoustic version of Pink Floyd's
"Wish You Were Here" . There is an AUSSIE guy on you tube who has a 3 part video on how to play this song. I think we can pull it off and share it with the OFC Crowd as "We wish you were here" when the event happens. I hope some of the folks can make it who I have chatted with. Guaranteed a good time for all, good food, good company, and GO FAST boating and hopefully some GO FAST playing. Mark your calendar for Sunday, August 14th.... |

Location: michigan | Well, I guess I'll learn the electric parts as I want to premiere my MWoody Creation ... I also have a Custom Custom Legend 12 String (built to match my 2004 Anniversary Custom Legend). That "Wish you were Here" would be perfect for the many ovation guitars in attendance that day.
BVINCE. Sorry you can't make it. I am sure it will work one of these adventures.... |

Location: michigan | Slipkid, if you can bring some kind of salad (i.e. Pasta Salad, Potato Salad, Cole Slaw) that would be great. Were planning for around 15 plus or minus a few.
Twitedlim, if you can bring a dessert of some sorts, that would be great.
We will be providing BBQ Beef sandwiches (Freckles Secret Recipe), corn, backed beans.
For others, bring some pop and whatever you might want to drink (beer, whiskey etc.) bring enough to share though.
We'll go from NOON til whenever, I know twistedlim will be coming later with the desserts.
GuitarWannabee and others, I hope you can make it. Come one, come all to the shindig.... If you think you might make it Sunday, reply to this message if you get a chance, otherwise, show up anyway. But be prepared to play guitar and have fun. |

Location: michigan | Cool. Here are the directions: The more the better.
From Detroit:
Take I-94 East to Port Huron
Get off at Exit 243 (M29 New Baltimore)
Travel about 20 miles on M29.
Look for the Harsen's Island Ferry on right
Take the .3 mile car Ferry ride
When you get off the Ferry turn left. You will bear to the right about 400 feet.
Stay on MI-154 (it will eventually change into South Channel Drive). you will have to bear to the right a couple times. You will travel approx. 6.2 miles from where you got off the ferry.
you will get to a sign that says rough road ahead (you are almost there)
Turn Left on Sax St. (just after Martz)
you will go down a dirt road about 100 ft. We are the second house on the left.
I have a sign in the front yard.
"LAFOND for U of M Board Of Regents

If you're into garage/yard sales, bring some cash and your bargaining personality with you. There were quite a few on M-29 on the way to the ferry yesterday. |

Thank again Bob and Christine for providing the food and location. Slip and Brian should be getting paid for their playing...tight as a drum.
Started playing at about 8am in church and finished about 6pm on an island. with about an hour and a half drive in between. This is what I would call a great day! |

Rich had a list of about 12 song titles taped to the upper lobe of his UTE. When his turn came around we just called out a number between 0 & 13 and he just jumped right in. |
