Location: Texas | just got here, both born in the USA… They appear to be in pretty good shape on first inspection, they just need a little cleaning and TLC. The 1537 has some fixable (I think/hope) issues. Below is a quick "before" snapshot of the new family members, (plus a close-up of the surprises I found when I took a close look at the bridge of the 1537.) I'll post "after" photos, eventually…
I was not expecting the two bolt-holes in the bridge, nor the missing black end-cap of the saddle… but the top is perfectly flat, (no bellying) and electonics work… ???

Location: Texas | Thanks, folks, the 1537 is pretty special alright.
I'm open to suggestions as to how to obtain a replacement for the black plastic clip on the end of the saddle…? Anyone have one they'd like to sell? If so, please PM me?
With a little research, I've found quite a few photos of 1537's with wooden plugs covering bolts on the bridge just like the ones in the photo of mine above. Does anyone know if those are all post-production modifications or if the factory ever bolted on any bridges like that? |

Location: Steeler Nation, Hudson Valley Contingent | You can email the factory for the end plugs. They sent me a couple not long ago. I'll scrounge around and see if I can find the extra one I didn't use. PM me with your address. |

My 1537 has no bolts or plugs, but it's a real early one. Anecdotal evidence suggests to me that the bolts are on the ones later in the run, at least in the corner of the world I've seen. What yr/sn is yours? Maybe they changed the spec partway through the run. Someone around here probably knows that answer. |

Mine appears to be from very early 1984 (302685) which seems to fit your theory… |
