Location: Wooster, Ohio | I am trying to cut back on my guitars and actually sold my first two guitars this year. I really don't need two ovations and the 87 Collectors was at one time my dream guitar. Everytime I look at this I say sell the 93 collectors but as I play them again today the 93 just is a better acoustic guitar. It is close but it is just a truth so I have to decide if the 87 goes, how can I sell the better sounding one.

Why not keep both? |

Location: Wooster, Ohio | I have nothing against having guitars I got 12, I just getting to a point in life that you wonder if it is better to have someone else enjoy it rather than just hanging on. I gave a 1984 collectors to my son during his high school years and it still means a lot to him. He doesn't want these when I gone so if I don't really play them much whats the point.

Location: GATLINBURG TENNESSEE :) | I vote... Sell the '93 and keep the '87. If that was your dream guitar, keep it!!! or you'll be regretting it for the years to come. Also ... I agree with moody ... have someone who plays well sit across from you and play them as YOU listen ... BUT put new strings on them both before you do it. |

Location: Wooster, Ohio | I think it is the time for the wife test sitting in front of me, with new strings and the same strings on both. You are also right on the 87 dumb to let a dream guitar of years ago get away. Probably end up keeping both just like before. |

Location: Sydney, Australia | The dream guitar stuff is important. We form emotional attachments to things and it hurts to let go. I gave my legend 1117 to my sister in law (since claimed by her son) in return for permission to get an Adamas W597. Didn't bond with that, so I traded up to an 08C (cold dead hands guitar). I still miss the 1117 (although I do get to visit several times a year).
If you must let it go, give it to a family member. Call it a long term loan if you're really torn. |
