Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | I have more than one guitar on which the string sticks in the nut-slot when I am tuning...
I get close to the desired tone, then click! it has go too far.
The it happens again going the other direction. :mad:
How can I cure this problem.
Hopefully someone has a sincerely helpful suggestion on this topic. :p |

Location: Tennessee | Well, there are experts on the board and then there is me. Here's the wrong answer I'm sure ... but it always worked for me. Get a Dixon Ticonderoga #2 Soft, sharpen it, and then rub the tip in the nut slots so you get the slippery graphite in there. |

Location: Pacific Northwest Inland Empire | Bobbo- plus two. Actually, I have some aerosol silicon I spray on a Q-tip, then apply to each slot. Works well, but graphite is cheaper, and more accessible. |

Location: NW Washington State | I have some "dry" Teflon lubricant in a spray can (DuPont D00110101) that works well. I don't spray it directly on my nuts- I spray it on a Q-Tip and then apply to the affected area. |

Location: Utah | Are your strings normal gauge? How worn are the nut slots? They should be slightly rounded on the bottom, definitely not V shaped which will pinch the string. Do the slots angle down gently towards the tuners? |

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | Actually, this was happening with my pretty-new G-400 Epiphone SG.
It also happens with my 2778LX, which is also minty-new even though it is 3 years-old.
Once I get them tuned-up it is okay.
But I will definitely do that graphite trick next time I change strings. |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | A tiny dab of parafin wax or a bar of soap will also do the trick. Might be a bit cleaner over time than the graphite. |
