| Does anybody have 2 spare Viper knobs? By the way the ones I'v got on do not seem to come off easily. I've tried to take them off but to no avail. Any comments?

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | The ones you have look like they may have a set screw in them. Look around the edge for a tiny hole for a hex.
I may have a couple, but my stock of clean nice ones is pretty low. email me mileskb at aol.com and I'll take a look at what I have. |

Email sent. I've looked everywhere around the knobs. There is no hole but it seems that knobs kind of sit on a hexagonal nut. You can almost see it under the tone knob. |

It's just they are made of cheap plastic, they're small and don't have digits on them to boot.
So when I need a particular setting on the tone or volume control I can't find it fast enought even with those dot markers due to absence of those 1 to 10 digits. |

only time mine are not dimed out is when I noticing I am too loud and back off the vol or if I am using a one pickup guitar and am working the vol for different tones like on my hamer korina junior |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | Good point, Al. I rarely mess with the pots other than to roll off the volume in case activation of some pedal has kicked it up too much. othrwise, especially the tone pot, I set them strong and leave them be. |

Depending on what "Look" you are looking for.
I had a Sunburst Viper that came with gold Gibson-esque knobs added, which didn't look right.
I replaced them with Black and Chrome LP knobs and they looked just fine.
If your pots have a split shaft and your knobs have No set screw... They should pull right off.
Otherwise, if you are concerned about damaging something, just leave them and Play-On. |

Location: Jet City | The Viper is one of the few guitars I use the tone knob on. I use the volume to clean up my sound quite a bit and the Viper tends to get a bit bright when you turn the volume down. Probably the "additional capacitor" they talk about on the ads. |

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | Same here.. I used to (and still do) run through a Rockman effects unit and the sustain circuit it greatly affected (in a good way) by volume. I can go from "a little edge" to full on "crunch" with just the volume control. If I want to have a more rhythm or darker crunch, I back off the tone control, or leave it on 10 for paint peeling scream. With this setup, there is very little change in volume at all settings.
Unfortunately... as I have found.. this only seems to work, or work the best with a Viper. I have played many other guitars and none are as easy to control that infamous Rockman sustain circuit. :( |

Location: Capital District, NY, USA Minor Outlying Islands | I have the volume pot dimed, and just stays there, and the signal goes thru all my pedals, and hits the last one which is my Dunlop DVP-1. I find with the volume knob dimed I get the most kick out of the pedals and use the volume pedal as a sort of master. When you shove the signal thru full blast you get the best effects.
The tone knob is also used infrequently. It has an inner and outer knob. The inner knob is a mid boost, and is the only one I adjust. The outer knob affects all the tone and I just leave it. |
