Location: Barkhamsted CT | Hello all, I need help, any opinion on this issue with a Adamas 1597. Theres a gap between the fretboard and the top on the low e side. From what i understand its always been that way. see picture

Location: Boise, Idaho | I don't have a 1597, but that looks like the floating fretboard that was intentionally built that way on many Elites and Adamases. The idea was that it allowed the top to vibrate more, but still gave access to some higher frets. Looks normal to me. |

Location: Sydney, Australia | If it's meant to be a floating fretboard, there will be a gap all around. Can you slide a piece of paper right under the fretboard above the 15th fret, or just at that particular spot? |

Location: Cicero, NY | If it's meant to be a floating fretboard, there SHOULD be a gap all around. Check the fretboard for warping or proper relief. |

Location: Warren,Pa. | Those types of Adamas were designed to get a graphite top out there for a relatively low price. The whole design is "Elite" except for the top. They weren't made with a floating fretboard feature so what you have is probably just a little twist in the wood. If the only issue you have with it is the way it looks, just ignore it. The glue bonding the Ebony to the neck is strong enough to keep this sort of thing from happening. The fretboard extension over the top is a little more likely to "move".
But then, I know even less than a gas station owner. |

Location: Michigan | My UTE has a top that sinks ever so much. It must have come that way from the factory because the there is a gap between the fretboard and top but you can see where the glue has stretched and set. There is glue there but you can also see some distance between the top and fretboard. It think they are all a bit different. As long as it causes no sound issues I would not worry. |
