I've been wondering... with the movement of nearly all production to oversees, is any research or innovation still being done for the next generation of Ovation guitars?

One of the things I've always loved about Ovation is the innovation, the thinking out of the box, topping previous efforts, but now, well...

Maybe this is as good as it gets.

I live and work in the area and still have some contacts left from the old days....I hope. Really had no idea they've moved the bulk of production out of the US.

I'll make some calls next week. Likely an OFC member has the scoop anyway but I'm overdue for a visit to the 'Big O'

Been in manufacturing my entire life and this sort of thing hits home in more ways than one. Once these sort of skills leave the US they don't come back. Making a great sounding and feeling guitar that will spend untold hours in an artist's hands takes a lot more than following a written procedure. And forget about automation - instruments must be hand crafted, not shaped and drilled out by CNC machining centers. Cookie cutter guitar? No thanks!
