This was quite interesting and deserves a bump in case you missed it.

Thanks for posting this. It came at a good time for me as I have a part in the entertainment for our schools 100th anniversary reunion this Saturday night (just me and my 1778T). I graduated in 1961, so this year was my 50th.

Until retirement, I had preached for the past 30 years, so getting in front of crowds to speak doesn't bother me, but solo playing and singing is another matter.

Watching the videos just gave me a boost.

I can do it!

Once I learned how to play an acoustic guitar, I lost all interest in the electric guitar (unless it's an electric acoustic)

I doubt I'm alone on this, but other than the fact that they are theoretically both "guitars," to me the Acoustic Guitar and the Electric Guitar are two completely different instruments. I play electric for the sounds I can get on an electric that I can't get on an Acoustic. I play an Acoustic when I want the sounds of an Acoustic not an electric. I play them differently.

Granted there is some "crossover" but mostly out of convenience when something like the VXT comes into play to "sortof" get an Acoustic sound when I need it while primarily playing electric. But even from a more basic stance, I rarely use a pick on an Acoustic and usually only strum or finger pick, whereas an electric I rarely play without a pick.

I also do not believe the Bass is a guitar with only 4 strings, it's a Bass Guitar... different instrument.

There are some tunes that transcend the instrument I guess. There are exceptions to every rule, but in general, I don't see the "acoustic vs electric" relationship.

Songs that I wrote on the Acoustic, only sound good (or as good as they can) on an Acoustic. Songs I've written on the Electric sound like crap if played on an Acoustic.

Great example... The Acoustic version of Layla isn't even the same song, and if anyone besides Clapton had done it, they would have been booed off the stage. But to be fair... most of Nirvana unplugged sounds pretty good.

Not every guitar player needs an electric guitar, but all guitar players should have at least one acoustic guitar…

It was an interesting show, (and there are a couple of O sightings in there too.) Thanks for posting it 3894.
