Location: south east Michigan
If you get the Smithsonian Channel you'll find "The History of the Electric Guitar" somewhere in the line-up.
Its' worth the time.
Walter Carter puts in his 2 cents worth.
Accurate or not, it comes off very Fender-centric.

I don't know if this is the same program you are referring to...
But I just watched THIS...
And it was educational an informative.
