I've been looking at Ebay for a few years now, looking for (and at) old Ovations. It seems there are fewer quality instruments, and the ones that do show up are being listed at premium prices. Craig's List down here in Austin doesn't list many, and those listed are usually Korean models with high prices. I also notice less older guitars for sale here on the forum.

My humble, now "vintage", collection has become more valuable to me over the last couple years.

I know of one you got back that was a pretty good one.

That's because all of us bought the nice old Ovations and we want a premium if we sell. So if nobody buys them, we keep em!

It's about time the used prices started moving toward what the guitars are actually worth.

In a couple ebay sales I was watching, an Ultra GS went for $100 and a 1651 went for $490. I thought the first one was cheap and the second a bit high. I've been looking at Vipers recently, too, and they seem to be offered or selling for more than they were a couple years ago.
Craiglist Ovations around here are usually overpriced Celebrities and an occasional USA model that is often misadvertized. With fewer new USA models coming to market every year, maybe the used values are going up, but I haven't noticed too much difference.

There was a time, and I kept a copy of the ebay sale somewhere, when an early Breadwinner sold for $1500.

Maybe that is because you are becoming "vintage"?

Not sure about this one, but I think that's the basic tenant of supply & demand.
