Location: Texas | Arthur...he has had it out there a couple of times...I think he knocked some off the price, but I know he was shipping it for free initially...regardless...a good price and it never hurts to contact him and ascertain how badly he wants to sell it. I am pretty sure he use to be a member here.
I spoke with him by phone and he has quite a few nice guitars that he would like to sell. |

Location: Cicero, NY | If he's listed it at $500 with s/h of $100, that's exactly what he's planning, OMA. He may be hoping for more but you don't list at lower than you want. He's listed that guitar several times before and at prices that I cannot believe he is not getting bids on but yet it's still on his wall. Economy aside, I personally wouldn't hesitate to go $1,000 or more for a mint one but that's just a guitar that speaks to my ears and I wouldn't assume it speaks to everyone the same. And, in fact, there's another listed at a BIN of $975. He may not get it today but I think that guitar is well worth every penny.
And I keep mine right next to my chair in the family (one of the benefits of not having little ones or pets running around every day) so while I can't possibly play enough, it's certainly not behind glass here. I love mine and try to play it three to four times a week. |

Location: Tennessee | The 1537 is a great guitar. Groundbreaking in terms of establishing the multi-soundhole guitar and it's unique place in the market. Plus you've got high-level features such as 5 strip all wood binding, multi-layer headstock fascia and heel cap, walnut fretboard, and AAA-graded tops. But mine has not held up (never really was) as a go to guitar for me. They're REALLY heavy for an acoustic, and while the acoustic tone is outstanding, it's not my best sounding wood top Ovation. So it's a great guitar to have for all the stove-knitting stuff, but it's not the girl that gets taken out for a hot time on the town. |

It seems to be the guitar that suits me the best. And with the newer 2 knobber electronics, it sounds as good plugged in as unplugged. We seem to be a team...... |

And yes, it is heavy. I offered it to my son (who plays a Celebrity SSB) to play at his gig last weekend. He loves the sound but said it weighed more than his Les Paul. I called him a puss and he kicked my @$$ and gave me my guitar back. |

Location: NH | Thanks for this thread guys. I haven't even seen mine for about 5 months. Reading this made me drag it out from under the bed and mess around with it for a while. (And still in tune!)
I bought it primarily because of the endorsements on this site. I patiently looked around, but still bought it without hearing it. The sound is just heavenly. I don't play it often, but don't ever see parting with it. I have a nice piece of Ovation history with killer sound.
It's heavier, but not a big deal. I do like the contour bowl on my LX. I think that makes it my daily player. |
