Location: Fort Worth, TX | I read about these on acousticguitarforum.com. I just got my two free samples and was AMAZED at the difference in sound and timbre they produce. My real tortoise shell pick I've carried in my wallet for 20 years just became an orphan. I URGE you to get your free sample. You can read more about them here:
http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=231721&h... Copy and paste into address bar. You'll thank me later. |

We'll see if I like them better than the Green Tortex picks I've used for the last decade... |

Location: sitting at my computer | It will be interesting to read your reviews / opinions.
Aside from the wear / durability characteristics of different materials... and the personal preferences of pick feel, shape, handling ease and comfort... I remain skeptical that there's any significant, discernible difference in guitar tonality between picks of similar thickness / hardness / surface finish e.g. - a hard plastic pick versus a stone pick versus a metal pick versus a carbon fiber pick, etc...
But then I've been unwilling to shell out the $$$ for any of those pricey plectrums just to try 'em out. Paid a buck for a Pickboy 0.75mm black teardrop pick that gets the job done adequately... and I thought it was even kinda pricey for one single pick! I know, I'm a cheap SOB.
It would be real interesting to hear some comparison audio clips of pick-A versus pick-B versus pick-C... being used on the same guitar, same notes / chords, same playing technique by the same (unbiased) guitarist.
Found this guy making a sales pitch (the audio quality sucks) and comparison of his picks versus Dunlops. But honestly, I just don't hear any significant difference between either one. Maybe my hearing is just going to crap like my eyesight is! |

A few years ago at a gathering at g8r's house we did a pick tone comparison and voted on the the best sound. Here are the results.

Location: Seacoast NH | Got a sample with 3 picks in it. Did a side by side comparison with my preferred green tortex picks.
I actually can hear a slight bit of improvement on the high end. Sounds as if these picks let all the higher harmonics ring out while the tortex pick mutes them somewhat.
Not a huge difference I would say, but definitely noticable... |

Location: Hot Springs, S.D. | I don't use picks, but I HAVE noticed that different materials sound better on different guitars. My old black Legend definitely sound better with a nylon pick vs. a plastic one. But my LX sounds better with plastic. |

Location: eastern united states | just got my order in today. i don't use picks often but i tried these out against the dunlop and fenders i had hangin' around. i used the clear .75 against the .60mm dunlop and med. fender, there is a huge tonal difference! my strumming seems clearer and its definitely a LOT brighter sounding! for picking i loved it, strumming was too clear. haven't tried the rest yet but , i dont think i wasted 29.95. only problem i see is i wont find the clear one when i drop it. |

Location: Connersville, Indiana | Just received mine, Great picks!!! I normally use a 88mm Dunlop but this picks seem to make my 6 and 12 boom. But the big surprise was when I used them on my Viper, Preacher and UKll. Amazing pick attack, easy pinch harmonics, they just seem to bring out sounds I have yet to achieve. Now I just need to save to order the .75mm package. Dave thank you for the heads up brother. :) :) :) :) |

Location: Massachusetts | I dropped mine while setting up on Saturday in the afternoon. When I got to the gig that night I realized that it was missing. I looked for it all night on stage, but it didn't show up. I never really got a chance to give it a real tryout! Bummer!! |

Now I have a bowl full of "smooth" picks that I never use cuz they are too slick.
So I have ruined myself for "normal" picks... they have to have a gripping surface. |

Location: Surrey, BC, Canada | Just got my sample pick, and am very pleased with them. I have a SIT strings model, a Dunlop, a Gibson .88, and a couple cheapies. I would say it's the brightest sounding one of all, without having that "too thin" feeling in the fingers.
Thanks Dave for mentioning this! |

Location: eastern united states | gravity pick guy can do custom pick orders. i think it would be cool if he can do a special 1778t-rft/bft/oft pick. he should let me know if he can tomorrow. if so, any other flamers in here interested? bobbo? OMA? prof? it'd be neat to have a few match the guitar. |

Location: GATLINBURG TENNESSEE :) | Thanks for the offer 'usmc, but that's ok, I have so many picks laying around the house now, that the wife keeps vaccuming them up and pulling them out of the clothes dryer. After trying a ton of them out, I've went from coolpics to the latest choice of Dunlops. After picking up another guitar, I'm afraid to purchase anything related to guitars, for fear of the wrath of the "Sergeant Major" (if you know what I mean) (; |

How exactly would a pick match the guitar? I'm intrigued. I live for little details like this. |
